They have been there all day!

Yep, primers are available for about $80/k if you look.
Hopefully we'll see some of the gluttony purchases come back on the market at discount.

My 2 local shop and Sportsman’s had by money for a long time.

Midway - only stuff on sale
Cabelas - Neutral

Sorry- I'm not paying $100.00 for primers

Me either. We seem to be a minority, though. Midway is out of stock again.

As always, there is no reason for the prices to go down so long as lunatics keep buying up everything in sight.

I am on a primer buying fast for a while hoping the new normal might get back to 50$ per thousand and I can buy a bunch and make it worth the Haz Mat fees. The fast was also suggested by my better half and I couldn't actually defend buying more at these prices. I fear I am dreaming on the new normal part.

As I've stated before, I think when everything settles we will be looking at $50-60/K.

However, now that inflation has reared it's ugly head, I fear my prediction will blow away like dust. Official inflation is around 5% (as evidenced by the recent SSA payment COLA increase), in reality it's closer to 10-12%.

That being said, it's nice to see at least a partial supply coming back.

Stuff is available more often and prices are stable/easing down.

Unless you are experiencing extenuating circumstances and cannot wait, patience will prevail.

I'm ~good~ for quite a while, so,,,,,,, I wait.

A bit more sign things are coming around. One of the calibers I'm now loading for is 270 win. Had about 70 pieces of mixed headstamp brass, all of unknown age. Some of it looked like the remnant brass my dad loaded 40 years ago. Dirty, corroded...some with dents and scratches. Found a few I trusted in the stash, but not many and that has lead to inconsistent results. (Shooters over the years (deer hunters) mostly left spent brass on the ground, as they were relying on factory with no intent to ever reload. )

But I've been looking for new replacement 270 Win brass since March. None anywhere. Have not even seen factory ammo to shoot to get more brass. A few weeks back, Graf's had a 500 rounds of Peterson brass for $500. That has now turned into the option of buying only 50 pieces, which works for me. And that was from Graf's, which has not had anything I've been looking for. So hopefully, the dry creek bed has started to trickle a bit.

Much agreed! For now, it comes down to two choices: available but pricey or cheap but unavailable. As for the braggards and name-callers, if you already have more than you need, it's real easy to criticize and name-call people who don't. Cheap shots are always in surplus, never in demand.

who’s calling name? let’s call them out!

I haven't bought a primer in a couple years. My shooting is half what it was 3 years ago, but same as last year. Primers last twice as long when you shoot half as much. I have enough for another year (I think) at which point I'll be low on my preferred powder as well. I would buy some now if I could get them for $50/1000. LGS has been out for a year and now has other stock on the same shelf space. I can only assume he does not plan to carry powder and primers for quite some time :(

I haven’t seen one single primer for sale at any of my LGS since March of 2020. Not one.

Many others are in this same boat…especially those who have to work and can’t line up in front of the store every day to be first to buy what may be there.

I have several hundred to a thousand or more pre-primed cases set aside that I can load in each of the calibers I load for.

Most others aren’t in this same boat.

Its not lunacy. In some situations where you’re over a barrel, sometimes ya gotta pay more than you want to if you want to keep on shooting. :(

Stay safe.

I'll agree that anybody can spend their
own money any way they see fit, but
if you enable someone that's obviously
price gouging, it'll just be that much
longer until we see overall lower prices.
I still haven't forgotten about the many
that called me all those obscene names
the first time I suggested that people
were lining up in front of the local Academy
waiting for the doors to open so they
could buy out the 22LR ammunition.
I was called the biggest liar in the state
besides the other choice names.
Then I go to the gun show and see the
guys in line to pay $79.00 to $99.00
for a $30.00 brick of promo 22 ammo
( back when I still attended shows)
I heard one man ( kinda bragging) that
each of his kids would burn through a
brick of 22 apiece on Saturday and Sunday
But of course, it was the ammo companies
holding back the 22, or the gubmint buying
it all up to stash in the secret NATO
affiliated warehouses next to the parts
supply for the black stealth helicopters.

Oh well. . . I have ammo and a few
components to last for a while and to
hunt with and share if need be with family
and friends and a few trusted individuals.
I don't do magazine dumps either, so
what I have should last
Good Luck
