Whoops, header should be "May have found"... but anyway:

I think I've finally found a compact screwdriver set for the range bag that I'll like. I've tried cheap (Wheeler) and expensive (Chapman) and noticed things about both sets I found lacking.
Bought and am trying out one of these, which is in the mid-range:

Had not heard of Felo until recently, but it seems it and another German company, Wiha, make some pretty good small handtools.
Have been using it at home of late and I'm favorably impressed to date. Will post again after more use, if anyone's interested.
One thing I did immediately notice: I picked up a larger, longer handle to go with this kit (which is quite compact. This handle is a little fellow indeed. That said, everything in the kit -- including the box -- seems well designed, machined.
Also ordered this driver handle for the bench. Oy! You can generate some torque ... so much so you'd want to be careful if you go to it for getting out a stubborn screw:

Been using a wheeler 80 something piece for years. Good set.

Good deal. Proof of the old adage that when you find something that works, hold onto it.
(And I've found with upland vests ... go get another. You want another one in 5 or 10 years, they've quit making it!)
Personally, I'm not convinced what Wheeler's offering today is on par with its stuff of years' past. Naturally, it is possible I'm full of it, though.
Also, for range bag, wanted something compact and pretty much self-contained. Have a decent selection of drivers at home.

Cemetery21, you're doing a far better job than I am keeping it reasonable.
I've got a large, good range bag ... but after I get my eyes, ears, tools, cleaning junk, some targets, stapler, tape, FAK, etc in there ... thing's already heavy. Add 2 or 3 handguns and mags, I've got to take a second bag or a can or two for the ammo!

Oh, that's just the cleaning/maintenance stuff. That kit stays in the truck if I'm going shooting. I have a bigger box for targets, ear protection, stapler, sandbags, etc. etc. Then chronograph and tripod if needed, then a range bag with just ammo, then gun cases. Fortunately, I don't shoot anywhere that I'm going to be more than 10-15 yards from the truck. If I did, I'd probably have one of those carts. cart.jpg

Likewise. God help me if I'm zeroing in a scope. Cause then I need the spotting scope, sandbags, etc.
Plus, who takes "a" gun to the range. Couple rifles, couple pistols, etc.
Also, if I'm working a whole-day shoot as an RO or instructor ... oy. Got an armorer's took bag that's going to dislocate my shoulder one of these days. Then need the little cooler with drinks, snacks, chair, spare shirt, jacket, etc.

I keep a Chapman set in my range bag but the most compact set I have are the ones that sit behind the leatherman, in its pouch.

The Leatherman bit kit is a great idea. I've got a few Leathermans (Leathermen?), but they're all from well before they added the bit holder.
I'd say "dang" and go out and get a newer one, but these old ones are really nicely built, IMO.

I have a ridiculous cheap set of harbor freight junk that goes with me. My mom got it a few years ago and it is in one of the old school spindex cases and it’s shaped like a Christmas tree. The bits were ground well enough and I have yet to find a screw I can’t break loose with that set and some help from a leatherman type tool. It was bought for replacing a screen on a phone, and has been great. Every now and then HF puts out a gem.

I also have a wheeler fat wrench and a few extra bits for it. I haven’t been super impressed. It does the job well, but I personally haven’t seen anything to justify the expense of wheeler products. I have no complaints about them, just that they are expensive for what should be a simple and cheap tool to produce.

Same here re Wheeler. Have the FAT Wrench and one of the their hammer/punch sets on the bench. Not bad, not great.
Love me some Harbor Freight trips. If nothing else, fun to just to see what they've got.
