O.K. I'm 77 and my main sources of shooting fun are trap, skeet, deer hunting, small bore target and handgun short, medium and 100 yard shooting. Those who know me understand my attachment to my 1975 870TB, A gun that has helped me take home a bunch of trophies, meart, cash, and a few game animals and birds. I always go back to it. The only original parts left on it are the stock, bolt and 30" full choke barrel with its highly shot polished full choke bore. I have a couple of backup guns, A Superposed Lighting and an 870 Classic Trap. I just got started cleaning out the safe to make it easier for whoever has to clean up when I shuffle off the mortal coil. This has left my slush fund fairly healthy.
I've always wanted to shoot more skeet than just our eight week combo league and I want to shoot more trap doubles. So...I've
been thinking about either a Cynergy CX or a Citori CX. They are both set up to shoot 60/40 which is about what my 870 does. (Oh, yeah, there's A BT and a 686 Essential hiding in the safe, also).
Not really asking anything of you kind folks. Just wondering if anyone else tries to talk themselves into something superfluous like I do.

I mostly shoot Trap and bought a Citori CX. It's an outstanding shotgun that fit me very well without having to do any moderations. I'm still chasing the elusive 25/25 but it's definitely not the shotguns fault. For the money I'd say the Citori is well worth it. I also bought it to try my hand in Skeet and sporting clays. Haven't yet, but I'm fairly certain the CX will perform just as good for me in that arena.

I've been at this so long that I have a combined total (this is in a joking way) of 5000 plus "in a rows". That is what I got a few years ago when I added all my 25, 50, 75 and 100 straight patches. Haven't asked for a patch in years as I don't display them. Not bragging, just saying I'm not looking for something to make my scores improve. More like, something to shoot additional challenges with. I shot skeet with my M12 skeet gun/cutts but I'm slowing down there.
I've had two Citoris, one a Trap Special, the other an ultralight. Neither fit me. I've handled the CX in both guns and they feel darn good.

I second, the Citori is an awesome gun.

I quit trying to talk myself into thing. It usually didn't that much, anyway.
So, now, I see it, I want it, I buy it, I try to figure how to get it past Wife.
We are at the stage that if she wants something she buys it. If I want something, I agonize, fret, rationalize, sell something, justify, and maybe buy. Sometimes I just buy it. Now, at this stage of my life I wonder if i"ll be around long enough to wear the blue off the top lever.

A couple years ago I was telling my wife about a friend's Kolar he just got. Combo with all the bells and whisties like unsingle, o/u, subgage tubes, special case, tools. She said, "you want one?" I said, "No" She, "If you want one buy it". No. "How much does it cost?" About $20K. "If you want it, buy it". I finally told her that I didn't think I had enough years left to grow my old body around another shotgun. I can pull the TB up to my shoulder with eyes shut and the beads are in alignment and no contortions are needed. As a matter of fact, the stock has developed some cast on from the compression of the wood after 300K rounds and my way of holding. All my other guns I have to kind of adjust my hold.

Get 5he gun you want. Kolar, Browning, perazzi, Ljutic....if its what gets you outside and gets your blood pumping, thats what keeps us going.
Otherwise brother, La-Z-Boy has killed many a good man!
I'm calling it wellness therapy.

(You know its bad luck to keep track of your 100s)

Well, yeah. In 4 years I have bought 4 trap guns, I would be able to 'get by' with one. (which would be the Ljutic.) But besides always wanting a Ljutic (since @ 1980) I had also wanted an Ithaca 4E, (thanks again for the help, AF, I love that gun.) an 870 TB, and the 1100 Competition (again, AF was pivotal in this decision) was the do-it-all gun to get back into Trap with. The 870 Tactical Magnum just wasn't cutting it.

You do know that if you take a trip to Racine, they will build your Kolar around you, right?
Just sayin....

Yes. I know that. It would be the frosting.

100s are a thing long ago. Last long run was a 75 about five years back. I did run 125 from 16 this fall but it was over five weeks. Concentration, concentration...

"Concentration, concentration"

There was a shooter, back in the '70s, ran 48xx and then missed one. When asked what happened? "Brain fart, pure and simple. Not the gun, not the ammo, not the wind, not the clay. Just a @$!###! brain fart."

Whats wrong with the lightning ?

Been shooting mine since the 70's. I can't possibly guess how many i put through it. still tight and right.

Everything is on hold for a while. Shooting and guns are in the back seat until we get my wife's health situation under control. Two ER trips since last Sat for a thing called vaso vagel syncope (spelling is suspect). Tests, tests, tests. One showed Civid, another, vivid related pneumonia and another a small aneurysm in one lung. She is the world to me and after nearly sixty years as a couple, my only concern right now.

Prayers for the missus and you.

Prayers. I agree with Armouredfarmer. Anything that motivates you to move, or gets you excited is a good thing. After crashing a motorcycle last year about the only thing that gets me gong is to go shooting or hunting when I can. Maybe next year after I recovered from all my surgeries I will be more active again.

She insisted I get tested, and as I expected, i, too, am Covid positive. No real symptoms other than a little cough for either of us. Vaxx must work. Praise the Lord. Now, quarantine.....thanks for the thoughts and prayers, my THR friends.
