In another thread I mentioned seeing the Eagles on March 2. June of this year marks 50 years since their first release, "Take It Easy." Same month, June of 1972, I graduated from high school. I wondered, what significant gun-related events marked that same year?

I found a big one... do any of you know what it is? (Like, that's such a hard question these days with the internet!!)

Not in the mood to search the internet but Dirty Harry came out for Christmas 1971 so I'm sure S&W sold a bunch of model 29's in 1972.

Day Eleven – Friday March 4, 1836
Santa Anna gathers his officers for a council of war.

It is decided that when the final assault takes place, that they will take no prisoners. The time for the assault will be determined tomorrow.

Having been consolidated into two batteries, the Mexican artillery, is brought to within 200 yards of the compound.

More Texian reinforcements arrive in the late hours.

March 4, 1942 (Wednesday)[edit]
  • The Japanese conducted Operation K, a reconnaissance of Pearl Harbor and disruption of repair and salvage operations there. Two Kawanishi H8K flying boats were dispatched but failed to see much due to heavy clouds and only did negligible bombing damage.
  • The Sook Ching massacre ended in Singapore. Official Japanese statistics show fewer than 5,000 killed while the Singaporean Chinese community claims the numbers to be around 100,000.
  • The British sloop Yarra was sunk in the Indian Ocean by Japanese cruisers.
