Hardware stores

Bought this one out of the display case at the local MFA. There's also a Buck display and a tub of $2 to $5 junkers at the register.

-Old hardware stores, like old, long established tackle shops - are always interesting - and I try to scout one out when I come across it - although these days my traveling is about zero... Those kinds of places not only have really interesting items for sale - but also might just have folks there that really know their stock - and whether this or that is still being made somewhere (or resides on some dusty shelf in their storage room, or storage facility). As an occasional DIY type or tinkerer with this or that I've learned quite a bit about one thing or other - that you'll never find in any of the big established stores (where the folks who work there know less than you do (if that's possible...).

Good thread!

20+ years ago we took a family trip to Michigan’s upper peninsula and stopped at a old hardware store/sporting goods store. The things I remember the most were wood snowshoes with Bob Maki bindings, nice quality guns and couple cabinets filled with Bobcat box Marbles knifes.

Was on vacation in MI a few years ago and turns out the house we rented was near a hardware store with knives. And a gun store. And a liquor store. And a supermarket. And a jerky store with over 70 delicious types.

Best part, they were all one store under one roof, the Dublin General Store in Wellston.

Talk about one stop shopping!

In other words, a permanent gun show?
