I want to get a new pocket knife, something attractive but functional. I rarely use my pocket knives and as such I have always carried crap. Cheap-o knives from the hardware store counter that cost $2.99. They worked fine for what I needed but it occurred to me that if I am going to shell out for a nice Case knife every time my fiance' loses hers why not get a nice one for myself. I want a med-large folder that I can carry in a leather holster on my belt.

I like the look of this one. I basically plan to carry my next knife for years to come so I want something special but also functional for those rare times when I can't rip some thing open with my raw animal strength :p

Open to suggestions for knives and carriers.

I've carried Case knifes for the last 40 plus years, as far as usable knifes, you won't find one better, I've had dozens over the years, lost some, never wore one out, I've skinned everything you can think of with em. got 3 I carry now, out working around the farm, going to town and one big folder for when I need it for skinning bigger things.

Looks like you're from Texas.

That Case looks like a fine BBQ/court/ Sundy-go-to-meetin' knife.

You can always pick up a small Case in CV like a Peanut or Medium Stockman for about 1/5th the price of that one to stick in your pocket for the dirty work so you don't knock the purty off that one. :D

If I ever get to your neighborhood, you'll have to tell me where your fiance' hangs out. I need to know where to start looking. ;)

Case knives are addictive. Once you buy one you won't be able to keep from buying many, many more.

I have the Russlock, and the Cheetah Cub, and the Sodbuster, and..., and..., and....

I'd look at a stockman style. Consider Case, Queen, and Shatt & Morgan or an older Remington bullet knife in the style you like.

I would say you are a perfect candidate for a swiss army knife. The one I have gravitated to after owning many is the Adventurer model. It is big enough to use, has basic tools, and thin enough for the pocket. You might discover that you will use it more often than you think. I use mine every single day for something.

Anyone know if I should get a med or large holster for this knife?

I like Swiss Army Knives but they don't look awesome, which is kinda what I am going for.

Its like you got your standard to-work-and-back sedan which is great and all but then on the other hand you have a Maserati. Problem with a Maserati is that I can't afford one so I want a Corvette. This knife is a Corvette.

Tell me about it! I bought my first Case knife in 30 some years a month ago after losing the Sodbuster I bought as a teenager. Left it on the back bumper of my truck while loading up for the landfill and forgot it was there. Got home and thought "oh s***". Went to the back bumper with a sinking feeling and.........gone! :banghead::(

Bought a Sodbuster Jr. a month ago and since have accquired 3 more Case knives. I'm an addict. ;)

Plus 1 on the Yellow Trapper.
Sheaths available with Case logo for about 5 bucks at SMNW.
I just love Case knives, especially the Trapper pattern.

Plus 2 for the Case zellow handled trapper, the full size version, not the "Mini".

I also will suggest another choice with a nod to the full size "Congress" in either a Case or Bӧker brand tool. I prefer the smaller blades for some things and four blades can be very handy.

Just be certain to get a carbon steel blade and take care to protect it with a black oxide patina and a bit of oil.

Cheers

Yellow Case Mini Trapper! There may be a better pocket knife made, but I haven't seen it. No need to try and keep the blades pretty. Just hit them with a little steel wool when they start to rust and keep them sharp.

I have cleaned fish, birds, rabbits and deer with my mini trapper. It worked well in each case. I use it every day to open boxes and slice cheese and maters and such.
