Value of Rifle Vs. Pistol Primers

While ALL primers are in very short supply, Large Pistol primers are just behind Small Pistol primers in unobtainable quantities. The LGS I work at has been able to obtain small quantities of Large Rifle and Magnum Rifle primers in the last year. However, we have not been able to acquire ANY pistol primers to resell for the last two years.

I trade one for one on everything.

Does the 1 to 1 make both of you happy and get what you want? That is what I ask myself.

Large Pistol and Large Rifle are about equally hard to find right now, I'd consider 1:1 fair.

Large Pistol has been fairly easy to find here as opposed to other primers the last year or so. No problem finding primers of any kind now. But finding some that You don’t have to remortgage the house is another matter. I did see some CCI Small Rifle yesterday for $86 a brick. Small Pistol runs $99-$119. Also saw some CCI Br4 for $179 and then saw some in another store for $109 . All I could do was laugh when the guy told Me how much. Saw CCI Small Rifle Magnum for $79.
The ones that are on the shelf but not as abundant are Large Rifle or Large Magnum Rifle.

I personally would be willing to trade even. But I haven't needed primers since the pandemic started so I don't know about whats available, except for reading what you guys post about.

I'd trade 1:1 any primer I have a surplus of for any primer I had a need for.

I'd trade 1 for 1. LR primers have been harder to find than most any other primers. My neighbor has been looking for 2+ yrs now.

My primer usage is, from most used to least is: small pistol, small rifle then large pistol (probably sounds like most of your lists too)

Until a couple of months ago when I decided to get into cast bullet rifle loads I never had a single large rifle primer in my inventory for 30+years.

Sooo I guess it would have depended on if I needed them.

A year ago I wouldn't have even made the trade cause I didn't need them.

Today 1:1 seems fair

If you need large rifle primer and can afford to lose the large pistol primers I would trade. I haven't seen large rifle primers in a long time.

You can easily get spp 45 acp brass. Lrp work in cases where their is no substitute....

I don’t use many LRP but I haven’t seen any for sale in a very long time and I’m down to less than a brick. But situation seems to be different everywhere, so 1:1 sounds fair. LPP aren’t abundant either.
