I currently own a Shield Plus Performance Center that I really like. So I'm considering an M&P M2.0 as a next purchase. When I watch YT video reviews of these guns, no one seems to like the hinged triggers, yet some folks are saying that the new models have better triggers. Does that mean that the M1.0 models have the hinged triggers or are there different generations within the M2.0 series? When I look at pictures of the guns M2.0 on S&Ws website the triggers all look the same to me. Are some 2.0s newer (as in different and better) than others?

I'm looking at two models in particular. Both are 9mm, M2.0 with 4.25 barrel. SKU 11767 is M&P M2.0Truglo TFX sights in that tan color. MSRP is $779. I'm finding them on GB with Buy Now prices between $645 and $812. On the other hand SKU 11818 is a Performance Center M&P M2.0 Pro Series in black with FO sights with MSRP of $702. But I can find them on GB with Buy Now prices as low as $419. I don't understand how the Performance Center version can be priced less and sell for much less than the non-PC version. Granted the one with the higher MSRP has night sights and is tan in color, but does that make it worth that much more than a Performance Center version with fiber optics? I though PC models had 'PC tuned action' which usually costs more.

So back to my original question: If sku 11818 which is a PC Pro series can be had for as little as $419, is that some kind of old stock with possibly the hinged trigger that no one seems to like? As I said, the triggers in the pictures all look alike to me. Do all M2.0s have the 'unhinged' trigger or is it just newer stock?

If anyone has any insight to these S&Ws models please step in.

Thanks

The models just coming out now have the new trigger. The old hinged trigger 2.0s are the ones currently closeout priced all over the place. It's possible the Pro series and Performance Center 2.0s will have the new trigger, but it's possible they just discontinued them.

The first of the M&P line and the 2.0 use the hinged trigger, the 2.0 triggers are an improvement over original.

I own an M&P40FS,M&P9SC 2.0, Shield40 2.0 and Shield9, my preference is the 2.0 but the originals aren’t bad either.

As for models the key is the sku because Smith offered various configurations.
I haven’t tried the “new” trigger because I’m satisfied with what I have

So is there any way to tell if a particular pistol has the newer trigger? Should I just go by price?

Thanks. But every picture I've seen of the two models that I'm interested in all had the same trigger, which turns out to be hinged trigger according to your links. My Shield Plus apparently has the unhinged trigger, but not the two M2.0s that I'm looking at.

The S&W hinged trigger has a long track record. Certainly there are folks that don't care for it, probably mostly Glock shooters, but there is a healthy group of people that like that design and prefer it to those with the safety tabs.

In the evolution, there was the SIGMA, the M&P improved on the design, the SD and VE were improvements to the SIGMA, I believe there was an improvement to the M&P, then the M&P 2.0 came which was an improvement over the M&P, which by then was called the M&P 1.0.

You're probably going to have to find one to handle personally to determine if you like that design enough to buy one.
