Today is the deadline to buy mags over 10 rounds! Go get them! Buy more than you need and more than you think!

My list is:

Lancer mags - cool factor

20rd AR steel mags - A2 Cool

Some kindda double stack Micro 9 mag. Maybe 48X

What are you shopping for?

9 year after Colorado's >15 round mag ban, you can walk into probably 75% of the privately owned LGS and buy any mag you want.

Sure- The big corporate stores don't play: Cabelas, Sportmans, Scheels, Murdochs, etc., but more likely than not, Bob's Tactical Firearms and Accessories will have everything from 25 rd 10/22 mags, GI/Magpuls of all flavors, through 33 rd Glock Happy Sticks. Its a rather big extended middle finger to the "system", and the local LE charged with enforcing the "ban" don't "make it a priority" unless somebody is committing felonies.

Its all rather interesting to observe...

Will you be able to jump into Idaho and purchase some after the ban goes into effect?
Vermont instituted a ban on magazines over 10rds for rifles but everything that was owned previous to oct-18 was legal, but we did have a case where some Jack wagon who identified as a white supremacist (wonderful for our cause) filed suit against the state or something because he purchased 30rd magazines in New Hampshire and got caught with them, presumably confessed to having purchased them after the ban out of state. He fought it in court and challenged the mag ban as violating his constitutional rights........."shrug". He lost. He really did himself and the rest of us a big favor by being a loud and proud white supremacist.....

Not intimately familiar with all the facts of the case, but my guess is no, you cannot go border hopping and "legally" purchase out of state what is considered contraband in your own.....

I've even heard of some sporting goods stores on the VT/NH border, like Runnings and other larger chain stores requiring ID for magazines purchases. I know this is the case at the Runnings in NH where I have gone before. They will ID you for a magazine purchase, whereas any of the smaller gun shops in the area apparently will not. Magpul does have a lil manufactured date code on the mag, not the case with USGI Stanag mags..... the general store in my hometown in VT was still selling 30rd mags as late as 2021, lol. The ban went into effect in 2018 :D

If you're smart though, you won't have to go broke stocking up at the 11th hour. I'd seen the writing on the wall in VT long before they instituted a mag ban and have an entire trunk full of brand new in the package magpuls of all different sizes, buying them up when they were $8ea @ 10+ along with USGI's, etc....

Coming from NY (luckily no longer there), the anti-gunner's appetite is insatiable. After the next shooting they'll eliminated the grandfathering of old mags and make you get rid of them all. Happened in NY and NJ, it'll probably happen to you too.
