Hi All-

Today I saw an AR with some type of wierd brake(?) on the end of the barrel. It was circular, about 2-3 inches wide, and 1/3 to 1/2 inches thick (forward from the barrel threading, I think it was vented. It was kind of flying saucer shape I think. I've been at the range 75+ times in the last couple years, and never seen anything like it. Does anyone know what it was? These guys didn't look like experienced shooters, so could have been the latest tacticool thing from china for all I know.

Sorry I couldn't get a pic cause the guy wasn't at the range very long.

BAM!! That's gotta be it, I didn't get super close, thanks. Probably a big no for me, as muzzle flip is the problem I would want to solve. Which I did by getting a Gamma brake for .223. Just a recoil device has no use case for me.

They also has some kind of 22lr pistol with a compensator, really?

But thanks for answering it, THR always blows me away with how much collective knowledge there is here. I was actually timing this thread to see how fast someone knew it. 13 minutes is fast!

Okay, now that the mystery is solved, opening thread up for smart assed answers (Within forum rules of course).

I'll go first -Sprinkler head? Or maybe those birth control pill holders? I definetely know what those look like. :what:

Even the lowly 22LR benefits from a compensator. Both in pistol and rifle. The TandemKross GameChanger, actually is!

The Strike Cookie Cutter is supposed to visually cap the handguard for a sleek look similar to interior muzzle devices inside a full length handguard.
I think it looks like the east side of a sunset observing pig…;)

Boy, I'd hate to be the guy on the bench next to the guy shooting an SBR or AR pistol with one of those bad boys on the end of his barrel. I'll bet I'm not going to have to shave for the next week, at least.
The only time I left my usual indoor range early was because some turds were shooting an AR with a brake like that in the lane next to me. Even muffed and plugged, it was so unpleasant I packed it in to save what hearing I have left.

I’ve had guys practically setting their A-2 flash hider-equipped barrel on my shoulders and shooting while training in a stack. Those shots rattled my fillings less than the gun with the side-ported muzzle brake. I guess they must work for the guys who buy them, but I seriously hate being near them when they’re being fired. :(

Stay safe.

Just need to find somebody who wants it after I'm done, there's no way Im ever building an AR that that thing would look good on......

In regards to muzzle brakes, the only rifles in my safe sans brakes are my hunting specific rifles.
I'd take it. Would I ever buy one on my own? No. Would I find somewhere to put it? Yeah, eventually.
