AR-15 Isn't Shooting Accurately

I bought an AR-15 in 6.5 Grendel by some guy on Gunbroker.com years ago, and it has never grouped well. I have tried swapping out rings and scopes, and I know that I shoot other AR platform rifles better, so after several years and many attempts to solve the problem, I've come to the conclusion that it's the rifle.

Is there anything mechanically that can affect accuracy that I can fix. I might go ahead and buy a $300 barrel, but I just wanted to do a little research before I did that. I'd hat to spend the money and find out that something just needed to be tightened.

Sorry if this topic has been beaten to death on the forum- I sort of expected that it had been- but I did a search and didn't find anything.

When you say it won’t group well, what are you comparing it to? Bolt action target rifles? Other AR platforms you own?

What does an average group measure?

Other AR platforms that I own, but it's really bad, I'm talking 6" at 100yards bad.

Oooo, that’s bad.

Having run through the gamut of the obvious I’d also consider re-barreling or selling it

Life it too short to futz around with a rifle that won’t shoot to it’s potential.

That's a pretty big group for 100yrds. Almost sounds like it was sold knowing something was wrong with it. Double check and triple check everything, hopefully it's something obvious and an easy fix.
