I've been doing a little reading about the 6.5 Grendel and have a couple of questions.
Has anybody set up anything other than an AR platform for the round?
I think it'd be a sweet in a bolt gun! Especially for a young shooter or for a shooting member of the fairer sex.
And which case is the basis for the round. I thought it was a 223 necked up. But on reflection, I think it must be on a different case in order for those long 6.5 bullets to be loaded to a length that functions through an AR 15 action.
Please inform this inquiring mind. LOL!!

Hmm, personally I haven't heard anything about it for a while, I thought it kinda died away.

It has been done in bolt guns, and it is not based on a modified .223 case. I'm not entirely sure what the parent case is, but it is dimensionally very similar to the 6mmPPC.

Personally, I am put off by the current marketing strategies that discourage developement by third parties: they seem eager to muddle patent and trademark law in order to retain exclusive control.

In addition to this, why bother when there are existing choices that are inherrently better for a bolt gun? Choose something like 6mmBR (link) and you'll find a wealth of cheap barrels that have been "shot out" by BR standards, factory match ammo, brass, and reamers galore.

It's a slightly longer 6.5 PPC. http://www.65grendel.com/faq.htm That should keep you busy for awhile, make sure you go to the forums too. Personaly for a bolt gun I'd use a bigger case like a 260 or 7mm-08 and load down for the shooter. But that's just me. Good luck.

Thanks gentlemen for the info.
Bigfoot...
You are probably correct. A 260 makes good sense. My problem is I tend to become a tad fascinated with the arcane "what if". I still have an itch for example for a rifle in 221 Fireball.

Sounds like the "parent" case for the Grendel round is basically the 7.62x39 Russian, which IIRC is also the basis for the various PPC cartridges.
Ain't the world of guns, cartridges and shooting limitless?
Now if someone will just neck the 50 BMG down to 17! :neener:
