Can anyone here identify this rifle which appears to be a rusty old milsurp of some kind? I would guess that it's semiautomatic and the action was described as having a " Horizontal tilting bolt locking mechanism" which is not that common. I've done searches for rifles that use that type of action but nothing comes up that looks like this picture. I'm also guessing that this could be a one-of-a-kind prototype since the guy that posted it tends to specialize in such items. The side-mounted sling swivels are not that common either.
It was pictured on a PC strategy gaming forum in the history forum section where there is an ongoing challenge thread. In the thread, people post a picture of some piece of obscure military hardware for others to try to identify. It can be anything from small arms to aircraft or tanks or even 18th-century square-rigged warships. You don't win anything for guessing right--you then just become the next person to post something to try to stump the others. Nobody has guessed this one for several months now and I've all but given up after numerous searches. I guess I'm cheating by getting help but then you know the old saying that: "all's fair in love and war(games)"
Cheers
