I do not have a Glock in my collection at this time. I have had a couple in the past, but they are just not something that I love, so they got shuffled off. However, I would like to have one in my safe because they are a default standard these days. Not that long ago some distributors had PD trade Glock 22's pretty cheap. I looked on Gunbroker but the prices they are going for are not that far off from what I could buy a new one for. Do any distributors have any PD trade Glocks right now that you know of?

Check CDNN too.

Best way to get a Glock, IMO. My EDC is a police trade in blue labeled G22.3. Mine has the “fish scale” serrated slide which I understand is a rarity. Came with box and magazines. The whole deal was less than 3 bills. Just can’t go wrong with that.

Sportsman's Outdoor Superstore has a lot of police trade Glocks at the moment.

Last November I picked up a trade-in Glock 22 .40 that was from the Policia de Puerto Rico.

Even though it was on a tropical island in the Caribbean for years, the former user took good care of it. Zero rust and just a bit of holster wear on the steel sights and front slide edges. (The tritium in the sights has lost its glow.)

It shot OK for me as-is with 165 gr fmj target ammo, just a bit high at 10 yards with the non-standard (180 gr) bullet weight.

To expand versatility and save the extra cost and hassle of finding .40 ammo locally, I bought a 9mm conversion barrel and an extra 9mm extractor. I have a bunch of 9mm Glock mags and use it mainly with 9mm ammo now. (The extractor probably wasn’t necessary but its a cheap and super easy swap.)

I have bought trade ins from AIM Surplus and Buds, keep an eye out and sooner or later they will pop back in stock. Good luck with your search .

Stay safe.

Now is a good time for a police trade, my first G17 gen3 was a trade in which as my son's opinion is impeccable with a very nice trigger. In so, pushed me to get the G21 with the same lucky. The G22 I've heard to look up are the gen6 with beefier slide please Glock's fans correct me on that.

I can buy a new G22 Gen5 for $398 blue label. But instead, I chose a G31 Gen4 for $499. I just like 357's better than 40's and I'm not crazy about Gen5's.

Trade ins are so close to new pricing, I've always just bought new.

Everyone should completely master a Glock. It'll help your shooting, even if you shoot heavy 1911's and CZ's. They are widely recommended and carried by experts for a reason. My budget for CCW, belt, mags, holster everything, is around $4000. And I'm carrying one of two Glocks this year. 1911 and Jframe only for very rare situations.

These guys had a butt load of them the last time I was in there. They always do and I'd be surprised it that has changed. They are no longer taking on-line orders, but if you call them they may pick one out and ship to a local dealer for a transfer.

Adventure Outdoors | The World's Largest Gun Store

These guys are only a few blocks from Glock headquarters in Smyrna. Just a guess, but I bet they get a lot directly from Glock.

I used to go into my local police gun store FFL and they always had police turn ins.

On many occasions I said, give me your ugliest and nastiest used Glock trade in and make it cheap. Walked out with $225 and $250 Glocks, a $250 Beretta 92FS, model 10’s for $150. The good ol days.

By default standard, that is exactly what I mean. It has become the default standard carry and fighting sidearm for many people. Not saying it is the best as I do not believe that it is, but it is exceedingly common these days, and it is indeed a good reliable sidearm. Zerodefect, you have a pretty good handle on why I want one. I am a double action revolver shooter for much the same reason you describe.

I teach lots of family and friends how to shoot. All of them ask about Glocks. Everyone knows the word "Glock". I really want one so that they know what they are getting into with a Glock. I am by no means disparaging them, but they are not the best choice in my mind for many people. By letting them shoot one, they are more likely to pick something that works best for them, not something that has a name that they recognize from tv.

I always say that when the triple vaxed zombie monkey apPOXalyps comes, you’ll always be able to find a Glock magazine in every third burned out Toyota Corolla. There everywhere!:D

I always like to have a Glock or ten because they work and are everywhere.

Same here.

Sometimes there are bargains to be found if you are in the right place at the right time.

AIM Surplus as mentioned has them right now for $350: https://aimsurplus.com/products/leo-trade-in-glock-22-gen-3-40sw-handgun

I've bought from them for years and they're good to deal with. Even bought a surplus Glock from them though I think they were $280 at that time.

Other sites to look at would be JG Sales, Centerfire Systems, and CDNN. I subscribe to all their sales newsletters and have email rules to filter them all to a single folder (so that my email box doesn't get cluttered). Then I can just keep an eye on that folder and see what comes in that's new an interesting.

earl, how does that GSSF thing work? How much to join and where do you find a local dealer that would do that?

They don't let you purchase on the 1st join anymore - so you have to either join, wait a year, and then renew, or purchase at least 2 years of membership up front. It's $35 for year 1 and $25 to renew so be aware unless you're planning on shooting GSSF to get something out of it, joining GSSF just to get a blue label gun is going to be adding $60 to the cost of the whatever savings.

Once your second year is paid for they'll send you a voucher (and you get one per year for every year of membership thereafter). That allows you to purchase 1 gun at law enforcement pricing. To use it you just need to find a dealer that participates in the Glock "Blue Label" program. Glock has a search tool here: https://us.glock.com/en/dealer-locator-usa

Contact the dealer, work out the details, then go get the gun.

Its a good program, and I used it for my G17, but I was doing GSSF matches at the time. If I wasn't already in GSSF I'm not sure I would have bothered just to get the discount. PD Trade guns are still cheaper, don't require jumping through the hoops, and are typically in excellent mechanical condition.
