So, I have been seeing the ballistics of the new 6.5PRC and the fact that it is basically a magnum Creedmoor, and really a ballistic twin of the 6.5-284 but with a SAAMI spec chamber design, so I used our Chattanooga dealer account to order a Mossberg Patriot Predator in 6.5prc for 438 bucks,( with the second most expensive option being a hair over 500 bucks in the form of a Savage 110(not a bad choice, I don't mind the 110 models actually if they are the right price and configured the way I want) but the problem I had with them is that they only have a 2rd mag lol, the Mossberg has a 4rd mag so I'd rather have the higher capacity mag) a Hornady die set for 39 bucks and a 100ct box of 150gr .264" Sierra MatchKing bullets for 48 bucks. I don't have a scope for it yet but for now I'm using a Leupold RDS on the pic rail that it comes with. It's a very nice rifle actually, I have a walnut stock Patriot in 270 and it's a laser beam with really good group sizes so I have high hopes for this one. I put a VG6 6.5 Epsilon muzzle brake on it as it's threaded so that should make it easy shooting.
I loaded up 100 rounds of ammo with new Lapua brass and Retumbo powder and have seen Federal and Hornady factory ammo around me here in OKC for around 50 bucks a box. The photo comparison of the bullets is a .264, .277, and .308 150gr bullet respectively. You can see just how long the 150gr .264 bullet is compared to the stubby .308 bullet lol. I also have a comparison of the 150gr SMK to a 220gr .308 SMK.

Finally got myself a proper scope for it! Vortex Viper HS 6-24x50 BDC Reticle and basic Vortex brand high mount 30mm rings. This is the exact same optic setup as my 270 Winchester which is also a Mossberg Patriot but with a walnut stock. I was holding out to find another one of the Vipers on sale and signed up for a notification from Midway and the next day I got an email saying they had gotten some in. So I ordered it ups ground and it took just 2 days to get to OKC.

Looks nice 270OKIE!
Thanks! It only took over 3 months to get the scope I wanted but it's worth it! I posted in the reloading forum the results at 25 yards with the 150gr handloads when the red dot was on it and it shot very well. There is a range out on some dudes ranch in BFE an hour from the house and he has steel targets out from 300 to 1200 yards! And he also has a pistol/carbine range with steel targets at about 30 yards depending on exactly how far away you want to be lol. So I'll have to stretch out the legs of the PRC one of these Saturdays we aren't busy and I can chronograph as well.

I saw the available Mossberg grey laminate version in PRC which looked nice too.
My only problem with the PRC is I wish the bullets were a little longer and sleeker. Its just not quite aerodynamic enough for me. And if it were a tighter twist it would help as well.

I am waiting for someone to come out with an aftermarket enhanced mag well insert for the Patriot, made of aluminum and stronger in the rear screw area.

Yeah too bad magpul doesn't make short action magnum AICS mags... They make long action ones though, so they would probably work but they might be a bit to long depending on if there was room for the mag well.

That's a slick looking rifle. I'm an admirer of the 6.5PRC. It reminds me of the 264 WM set up for heavy bullets.

Be careful shooting the 300 yard steel. It may tear it up depending on the hardness. I shredded a friend's 400 yard plate with a 240Wby shooting heavy for caliber bullets.

Thanks! I like the camo pattern and the tan/coyote cerakoted action and barrel. And that's good to know about the possibility of tearing up steel targets at close range, thanks. The guy charges everyone 30 bucks to stay as long as you want each day. You can do a pass type thing I think too. He also does classes on long range marksmanship too, they are not cheap and you have to provide your own ammo.
