Zero in the Model 17, the .22 barely moves it.. In .38 Spl., there is very little recoil with the Model 14-3 I own. My Dan Wesson 15-2 is a brute with the 8” VH barrel, it is almost too much of a good thing.

With the bigger magnums, there is obviously going to be more recoil. But the guns are so nose-heavy that muzzle flip isn’t as great as with the 4” versions.

I have one of those with the 4.75 inch barrel. It has always shot good. It is easy to hit center mass on man sized silhouette targets at 75 yards which was very surprising to me. Shooting mags out of it will give you a headache and ringing after a little while if you dont wear ear pro though.

I dont know what they go for now but it cant be beat for the $175 I gave for it.

I've owned various SA 22 revolvers. Ruger Single Six is easily my favorite, mostly because it has adjustable sights. The adjustable part is nice, but the important thing is that the sights are way bigger than the fixed sights on the other SA 22 revolvers I've owned. I will shoot the Single Six better than the others every single time, because of the sights.

I've had two Single Sixes in 22lr. I gave the 5.5" to a family member before he passed away. My current one is 6.5". For a range gun, the extra one inch helps a little bit because of increased sight radius. If I were going to carry it around in the woods or fishing, I'd prefer the 5.5".

Random Thoughts: My first Single Six had the 22magnum cylinder, too. Over the years I decided it was a waste of time and stopped using it. I've had a couple of Heritage revolvers and am not impressed. Barrels 8 inches or longer are awkward, in my experience.

This SS is from the 80's. Someone had shot it a LOT. I bought it used for almost nothing, replaced a $10 part and have been shooting it regularly ever since. My kids will still be shooting it when they're my age.

Although not a real secret anymore, it's very hard to beat the mklll colt trooper. Especially the .22 version. One of my all time favorites.

I have only two .22 revolvers at the present time: an older Ruger Single Six that was given to me by a friend of mine and a S&W Model 34 which was a present to my wife. Both make for great plinkers as well as for teaching the basics of shooting handguns to new shooters.

I just added a King Cobra Target to the revolver stable. Nice revolver imo. Only put 50 rds of 38s through it but so far so good...

That’s a sweet rig for $200.00.

I intended to use my Blackhawk for long range stuff so I wanted the longer barrel but that length on the wrangler is probably good for more general uses.

Nice score. The 4.62 inch barrel is my favorite in any caliber SA, but 5.5 isn't too bad.
The Wrangler is a very good value for $200.
The Heritage isn't a bad gun either but if you have to go higher than $150.00 to get one I would go the extra for a Wrangler. I like mine. I'm sure you'll like yours too.

Long barrel 44's are fun but have limited practical use and pretty much none if you aren't a hunter.

I was looking for a S&W 625 in 45lc when a Dan Wesson 744 with an 8" barrel popped up for dirt cheap about 6 hours away from me. I jumped on it and absolutely love it. The Dan Wesson barrels are unique in that you can change the barrels in the field in about 5 minutes. I have added a 2.5" and 4" barrels. I also added a muzzle break that can be used with any of the barrels. It is very fun to shoot and easy to reconfigure if you get bored with a particular configuration.

I would recommend the Dan Wesson 744 but I also recommend looking at what comes around on the used market, you never know what might pop up!

I see a lot of short-barreled revolvers. You have that SA 44 Mag that's nice. How about a long-barreled .22LR or 38 +P Special? Really eke the accuracy out of them.

The local range has a guy that shoots playing cards edge wise from the 10 yard mark. He uses a double action revolver specifically chambered in 38 Special vs 357 Magnum. The barrel is fairly long, maybe 6 or 7 inches. If I knew what it was I’d recommend getting that. I’ve only seen him miss those cards once, and that was when he’d removed his red dot and was rezeroing it.

Model 48 - a blued 6" barreled 6-shooter in .22 WMR. Short under lug. Maybe add some nice maple or MOP grips...

Congrats! I paid 200 for my identical Wrangler almost 2 years ago. And no holster was included. Right out of the box i fitted a birds head stainless grip frame, stainless single six loading gate, and stainless pins all around. All of the stainless, as well as the hammer and trigger, received a high polish. Cuban mahogany grips from scraps of reclaimed gym bleachers. Then once my pics started floating around the webs, Ruger comes out with a birds head model... Not saying it was me who insipred them, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

You are correct on the hammer operation and the transfer bar allowing safe carry with the hammer down on a loaded chamber. The loading gates on the wrangler are stiff. Its a quirk...
