I just picked up a Canik Mete SFT Pro since Canik recently had a rebate on their Mete line, which provides customers an additional three 18-round magazines.

For the $579.99 + my FFL’s ~$27 transfer fee, I am extremely impressed.

I own an assortment of firearms to include handguns made by Glock, SIG, Walther, Ruger, Taurus, Bersa, Beretta, Colt, Springfield, S&W, H&K, CZ, and others. I also already have a Canik Elite Subcompact and a Canik TP9 SFX.

I knew it would be difficult to outdo my existing Caniks, but the Mete SFT Pro does just that. Canik really did a great job. From cosmetics (cool slide cuts, a fluted barrel, etc.) to functional aspects (a ridiculously clean 90 degree breaking flat trigger, a Night Fusion Tritium front sight prairies with a blacked out metal rear sight cut to enable on-handed racking, ability to mount optics while retaining existing fixed sights, a mag well, a threaded barrel, etc.), Canik produced a firearm that is suited for carry as well as competition purposes.

I have not fired the gun, but I am certain it will shoot just fine. There isn’t a ton on the Internet about this gun since it’s relatively new so ai wanted to provide my impressions and include photos to help prospective buyers see what they will get.

I hope this helps!

Yeah, I cannot find any tooling marks whatsoever.

Its pretty impressive. The only thing I can see a little off possibly is the rear sight. Looks to be slightly tilted and the notch a little asymmetrical. Could just be the camera angle though. I would just lube it and take it out and shoot it.

Thanks for pointing that out. Unfortunately, your eyes are correct and the sight is canted. That’s very disappointing, especially considering how fantastic everything else is. I notified Canik Customer Service. Hopefully it’s an out-of -spec sight and not an out-of-spec slide dovetail. As you can see in the below photos, there is space between the bottom of the sight and the slide’s dovetail on the left side of the slide, but a tight fight between the sight and slide dovetail on the right side. We will see how Canik addresses this.

Sorry giggity. I wasnt trying to wreck your day. I thought twice about saying anything at all but figured I might as well mention it in case it was not my eyes playing tricks with me. I probably looked at that picture three times before I spotted it. Century should take care of you. I dont own a Canik yet but have been impressed with all of them I have gotten my hands on. I have been looking at the TP9DA ( I like SA/DA trigger systems) but somebody mentioned they had problems the other day so I need to research it a bit to see whats going on. I normaly only buy USA Made pistols and stear away from foreign made firearms (Unless its used) but the Caniks are so nice I will probably break my rule.

I've got about 900 rds through mine, not a hiccup. The first session was 500 rds on a 100+ degree day, with no cleaning. Yesterday I was shooting 2-5 bullets through the same hole many times a 7 yds. It's my favorite canik now for one reason. Although the front slide cuts on the Rival are better, the beaver tail on the pro hooks slighly lower, so makes a bit more contact with your hand. This helps slightly with fast follow up shots. I had heard this before I got the Pro, but when I looked at both, I couldn't tell a difference. Then once I shot it, I could definetely feel it. My wife just started shooting, and she shoots the Rival. "Look honey- since you shoot now, you can have my best gun":rofl: "Thanks, you're so nice, I love you"

Each model is about 5-10% better than the previous one, but that's the main difference for me. It also looks really cool.

I sold my 1st Canik (TP9 SF) last week to make room for my SFT, and saw it at the range yesterday; it made me sad.
On a side note, the guy that bought it bought a bunch of winchester white box ammo to shoot in last weekend because he didn't know any better. It continually jammed his Taurus and S&W, shot fine in the TP9SF. He stopped shooting the other two.

Update: He sold his Taurus the next because of it, and the S&W is next.

I don't have the Pro model, but I have a Mete SFX. I've been gushing about it for 2 days now after testing some handloads and adding a Crimson Trace red dot. Only my 22 target pistol and Ruger Blackhawk shoot like this, and the Blackhawk requires hand loads too. An SFT may be in my future. Load III is just slightly better and has a slightly higher velocity, but man do I love a minimum charge that shoots like this.

Very nice. I've been waiting to see one of these locally. A few of my local shops have had the SFX, but not the new Pro.

How long has Canik been making and selling pistols in the US? Years I'm sure. That 5% increase in quality/year is starting to add up fast.

They've been selling in the US for several years. I think they release a few new versions per year lately.

I've had a tp9fx for 4 years if that helps. No issues whatsoever. Only loads it doesn't like are 147 lead flat point, I picked up to shoot pins with.
Edited to add. I have over 10,000 round through this pistol. both my granddaughter and I shoot steel challenge and idpa with it.

Pretty impressive and promising. If I leave out 22s, I doubt I have 10,000 rounds through all my guns combined. I've only been shooting for less than 5 years though.

The mag rebate is why I bought my SFT Pro when I did. That's over $100 back in mags.

On a side note, I recommend using the holsters that come with any of the SFX models. I don't like belt clips, so I attach paddles to all of them except the standard METE (Nor does the SFT Pro), because it doesn't have the holes drilled for a paddle. I am looking to buy a Rival Darkside OEM holster, for my SFT for this reason, if anyone wants to sell thiers. The reason I recommend the oem holsters, is almost no holster wear at all. The oem holsters only secure the gun using the trigger guard. Any other wear marks are from holster friction, but the least I have seen of any of my 12 other holsters/guns. Below I have attached pics of my Rival, which has probably been presented from, and reinserted into the holster over 15,000 times. Check out how little wear on the finish, using the OEM holster, it's amazing. To give you an idea of how much I've shot this, look at the mag release button. It doesn't contact the holster at all, that wear is from my thumb.

I just wanted to update everyone regarding Century’s (Canik’s) Customer Service.

I contacted Century about the canted rear sight on Saturday (a non-business day).

A representative replied on Monday (the first business day) morning and requested a few documents (a form, a copy of my drivers license, and my receipt) needed to send the firearm to/from the manufacturer. I emailed those items on Monday evening.

This morning (Tuesday), the representative provided a return number, a prepaid shipping label, and easy-to-follow instructions on how to package and return the pistol.

So far, the customer service has been excellent. I’m not sure why they opted to have me return the entire gun for an issue related to the rear sight, but they’re paying for the shipping both ways and it’s not as if I can use the gun without the slide so it’s not that big a deal.

I’ll provide updates and let everyone know how things ultimately turn out, but for now, Century seems very responsive and professional in their handling of Canik products.

Walther and HK do the whole gun return thing too, I dunno why either.

They may be concerned the slide might be out of spec, that's based on other makes/models of guns I've had to send back over the years.

I'll +1 Century service, I had asked if they sold reduced power springs for the TP9 Elite SC as mine kept stove-piping on the last round and they sent me a spring kit for free.

Awesome, did it fix the issue?

Being a Canik newbie at the time, I wasn't aware that they needed some breaking in. With a little more use it stopped, but the reduced power spring kit did the trick too.
Oh good. Locking the slide back for a week does it to, I do it with all new pistols.

Congrats on the New Canik Mete SFT Pro! I have had a half a doz Caniks. Great Guns! I have never had to send one in. Glad to hear Century is taking good care of you!

I currently have the SFX Rival Dark Side. I used hotter ammo (my handloads) to break it in. No hiccups at all!

The new barrel looks awesome!
