In another forum a guy posts some of his knives that I think are works of art. Thinking some of his work would look great with some Cocobolo scales, I dug up a stack of choice scraps I had saved a few years back when I helped a brother of mine build a deck for someone. Enough to make quite a number of handles.

I made arrangements to meet the guy, who is not far off my normal travel route between VA and SC.

It was no bother, not at all out of my way, and certainly didn't cost me anything for the wood when I got it.

Anyway, he gifted me this beauty in exchange! 1075 steel, he says, so it's durable and shouldn't be a problem taking and holding an edge.

I had been considering commissioning a couple knives from him in the future for gifts and having one in hand certainly makes me want to do that even more!
