An insert from my states gun rights org. About reloading supplies. I don't like it.

NATO’s current Secretary General, Jens Stoltenberg, is frantically urging all members to immediately ramp-up production of weapons and ammunition, military ordnance of all kinds!

Artillery shells and small-arms ammunition are in particularly short supply, due to the rate at which they’re currently being consumed in the Ukraine War.

Depending on caliber, each artillery shell requires as much as several pounds of propellant powder (essentially the same as what is used to manufacture small-arms ammunition), and the Ukrainian Army is expending several thousand artillery rounds per day!

In this country, we’ve already sent over to Ukraine a sizable portion of our Army’s inventory of artillery shells, not to mention missiles, rockets, etc. We are significantly drawn-down, and making all that back-up will take years, depending upon rates of production, and current rates of consumption both in Ukraine and for our normal domestic peace-time training.

Other NATO members are no better-off!

The upshot for American gun-owners, particularly reloaders, is that propellant powder (among other ammunition components) is in decreasing supply, and the supply available to civilians may dry-up completely.

Reloaders are well-advised to stock-up now, while they still can. All gun-owners should have adequate stores of ammunition.

The Ukraine War will not be ending any time soon.

If this thread doesn't start another panic buying spree and drive prices back up, I don't know what will.

Do NATO Secretary Generals act "frantically"?

Is there another source that might confirm that info besides he said/she said? The article didn't cite one. I doubt NATO would wait 2 years into a war on their doorstep to start revving up. It sounds like old news even if true.

@CoalCrackerAl

Thank you for starting this thread I don’t think you were trying to start a panic buy in any way I do think you were trying to look out for your fellow man especially when he is a gun owner so I say unto you Bravo Zulu and if this does get closed no worries I’ve had a few get closed myself nothing personal again in closing thank you :)

Hmmm, if only I owned a news or social media outlet to use as a vehicle to drum up hysteria and create a false market that will start panic buying…..

for no reason whatsoever of course….

:scrutiny:o_O

Not to oppose but I read a story about reopening old federal ammunition plants to meet demand. I don't know if powder manufactures are working like the assembly guys in 24 hour shifts. They make huge amounts of powder which is not labor intensive like rounds, but who knows...

Research topic : KNO3. Can be manufactured from sewage & construction waists. The basic product is Nitric acid via numerous processes. Old battery acid can be used to good effect. Mineral Acid + organic compound = Boom.
