Browsing the for sale ads on a regional website, I stumbled across a NIB Colt Federal Patrol Rifle for a great price. I had not heard of this model before and basically it is a 6920 with a Geissele MK4 M-LOK rail, Magpul CRT stock, and Magpul Pro sights. I was able to get this for about 100 bucks more than an 6920 OEM so I jumped on the deal.

I added a Geissele SSA-E and a Primary Arms GLx 2X prism and headed up to the local mountains for some shooting. I put about 250 rounds through it and it was flawless. All brass was gathered in a neat pile at 3:30. The SSA-E is one of my favorite triggers and it did not disappoint. After I shot a hundred rounds or so my son took over and I had to basically pry it out of his hands to get it back. It was pretty windy and cold today, so we did not shoot for groups, but after it was sighted in at 50 yards, the GLx made hits simple and quick. The top setting was day light bright in an overcast sky. The rifle shot smooth and we had to try to make it miss. It was just good mojo overall for a new rifle on the first outing.

I have to admit that I enjoy Colt AR15s/M4 rifles, but this one was just awesome. It was a great day shooting with my son and I can't say enough good things about the rifle so far. Now I just have to figure out how to let my son know that he is not keeping this one....

Nice find, congratulations! I’ve always had confidence that I could take a Colt AR out of the box at the range and run it like a scalded cat with no problems. I love those Primary Arms prisms, too - they seem to punch well above their weight (80% of the functionality of an ACOG for 30% of the price). What barrel profile does yours have? All my Colts show a distinct preference for 77 grain SMKs. Careful having your son around, lol! Mine has tried to “finesse” his way into my Colts too.

The PA prisms have an adjustable ocular the Acog doesn't.

The glass is plenty good. Reports are good on reliability so far as well.

I'd say they're more than 80 percent an Acog. Got plenty of those, but my last 2 optics purchases for ARs have been PA prisms.

Considering a third for an 11.5 inch Geissele.

I am really liking the Primary Arms prisms. My astigmatism is definitely here to stay. I can still use red dots, but the adjustable ocular lens really seals the deal. They have a new GLx 1x that should be out soon. If that pans out, I might replace all my dots with that one.

My rifle barrel is a regular M4 profile. I have not yet shot the heavier bullets yet, just M193 or M855. I have a couple of uppers with SOCOM barrels and they definitely shoot the heavier bullets great!

I was able to shoot out to 200 yards today. The target is a 2/3 torso. Not super far, but the rifle and scope did well. This is my first attempt at linking a video so I am not sure if it will work. Not the best quality, so apologizes in advance.
