OK, another thread breifly touched on this. Just got a HK P7M8 (9mm). What in your opinions, those of you in have one of these P7s, is the best ammo for it? What ammo is the most reliable and accurate carry rounds for SD in the P7.

Thanks.

P7s are inherently very accurate ,you should be able to find more than one brand that gives about 1" groups at 25 yds. In addition there are many design features that make it very reliable ,more so than other guns !!! Pick a bullet 115-125gr , premium ammo of any of the makers .I've been a P7 owner for over 20 years ! welcome aboard .

Some people favor TMJ ammo(No exposed lead), I've never had a problem with exposed lead base. Stick with 115-125 grain. No wolf, no Blazer.

No Wolf, no Aluminum CCI Blazer. The new Blazer Brass is excellent ammo :D

No unjacked ammo, nothing with a lacquer or any other kind of coating that can clog the gas system.

That being said, my P7s love:

- CCI Blazer Brass
- Fiocchi 123gr FMJ Combat Truncated Cone
- Speer Gold Dot
- Remington 115gr +P+ JHP
- Federal 9BPLE 115gr +P+ JHP
- Hirtenberger 100gr FL Soft Point +P+ (Wildly accurate :D)

Regards,
James

When I had a P7 I loaded it with Speer Gold Dots in either 115gr or 125gr +p

It ate them up with no problems. The few times my P7 had problems was when I loaded it with Federal Hydrashoks. The slide would fail to lock back when empty with the Federal ammo, but it still went bang every time. The Gold Dots and Golden Sabres never gave me any problems at all.
