Should I sell my pony pocketlite?

I got this thing for carry a year ago or so, and it's served my very well. It disappears IWB, and shoots just fine.

I bought it because I live in MA, and the selection of handguns here is quite limited by a facist leftist AG. I'm moving to ME shortly, where I can get any number of small pocket autoloaders, so I can replace it easily if I sell it.

Anyway, since getting an OLD Smith model 60, I've taken to carrying it entirely. The Colt just sits in the safe.

So, here's my thinking:

Keep it:
It's a Colt, the only one I have, maybe the only Colt I'll ever have.
It's nearly a Sin to sell a gun.
They aren't making them any more, so the value might appreciate.
Doesn't take up much room in the safe.

Sell it:
You can sell it for a lot here in MA, because this type of gun is so limited.
Don't really need it.
Think of the wonderful other guns you can buy with the money from selling this one!

I'm kinda torn too.

Many people who sell guns later regret it but that's usually after finding a need. Sometimes something has happened to a "main" gun and this could have been a back-up. Also, why sell it if you don't need the money?

On the other hand, if you do decide to sell it, let me know :evil:

Something to think about. The Pocketlight Pony was only made a year or two so the prices are quickly rising since there are so few of them. I look for one every now and then, but you just don't see one to often.
Let us know if you decide to sell it.

I don't need the cash, I was just wondering if I should sell it while I'm still a resident of MA, where it would command a higher price, due to it's being legally "registered" here before the draconian anti gun laws took effect.. But then, they're not making them anymore.... hmmm........

Colt Pocketlite

Jamz,I'd be very hesitant to sell any Colt. It's my wish that they will eventually bring back the entire .380 line and the Pocket Nine(I still can't see the similarities to the Kahr which I understand was the reason for ending production of the P-9)but I'm afraid that may never be in the cards.

If you don't need the money, just ask yourself 2 questions.

1) If I keep it, will I ever regret having it?

2) If I sell it, will I ever regret not having it?

That should give you an answer.

Keep it. I've got a Colt Mustang Pocketlite (the SA version/predecessor of the Pony) that I wouldn't part with no matter what.

THanks for the advice all. I'm a-keepin it.

I've always thought that the Mustang was superior to the Pony, (in terms of trigger pull it certainly is) and would love to get my hands on one.

Now I just have to find that extra magazine that I seem to have misplaced....... :uhoh:

I sold mine a month ago, but I had the stainless steel version. I bought it in 98. I used the money for a new Beretta. Go ahead and sell if it U don't even use it...

Smoke has the best advice. Sell it to someone in-state before you move and buy a Mustang after the move. The Pony is one gun I've never regretted selling. You won't either, hopefully.

I assume you currently have a MA CCW, and after you move, you will get a ME CCW. State reciprocity laws can be funny. Usually, a state with reciprocity will honor another state's permit, but require to follow their CCW laws. MA might require that only MA legal handguns can be carried by ANY state's permit holder. Therefore, if your ME CCW is valid in MA, you may still be required to carry a MA legal handgun if you CCW.

Note: The above is all supposition. Reality frequently diverges from all forms of logic. I suggest you check the applicable laws regarding the above argument.

I wouldn't sell mine either, it's one of my guns I will always keep.....
For extra Mags, look at Sportman's Guide, they have factory Colt Stainless 380mags for the Mustang/Pony for $9 each, with the Pony on the bottom grounded off...Seems Colt cancelled the order, and the mag manufacturer had to get rid of the trademark to sell them.... one of the great deals out there....
Don't know who is hoarding the rest of the mags, but I got 3 with my used gun....
