Got it yesterday. When I got home I field stripped it, cleaned and lubed it, installed the CZ factory rubber grips (which are a HUGE improvement over the original plastic ones) and dry fired it about 250 times (the trigger got noticeably smoother while I did this). Then I headed off to the range with 200 rounds of 115gr WWB. I was kinda nervous about how it'd perform because of mixed reviews I've heard of the ammo in CZs, but the gun devoured all of the ammo without so much as a hiccup.

I have a couple questions though: Can someone tell me what size allen wrench the overtravel adjustment screw is? And, how much of an ordeal is it to remove the extractor? I know I need to remove it periodically for cleaning, (and I want to get a Wolff extractor spring just for piece of mind), but I've never detail stripped a handgun and I'm a little paranoid about messing something up.

This is the first 20 rounds (2 magazines) I put through the gun at about 20 feet. I don't shoot that well so I'm pretty happy with this (I started flinching after the first 30 or so rounds so I need to work on that and get some more dry fire practice):

Looks like you made a great choice, judging by your targets. :) Seriously, you can't find much better in a 9mm; congrats.

Nico - cannot help on the specifics as I have no CZ - well, apart from the venerable CZ-52! Hopefully some folks here will have answers for you.

That aside - congrats on your first handgun - which it seems you have baptized well!! The target looks just fine and if no malfunctions then seems you have yourself a good piece. I'll forgive the flier in the 6 ring :D

Re the over travel adjust - if you have two sets of Allen wrenches - metric and standard - you should be able to try several and see what fits. Chances are one of the small metrics will fit snug and that'll be the one. Any ''slop'' then do not try to exert force. You may need blue loctite to keep your setting and prevent backing off.

haha, I'm blaming the flier on the cheap ammo :p. I posted just that target because the other two weren't very pretty. For some reason after the first few mags, I started grouping low and to the left. I know I was flinching because I tried sticking snap caps in a few mags. But, I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong with the trigger pull. I've done the dime on the front sight trick and I can pretty much dry fire indefinitely like that. Whatever I'm doing wrong, this gun is a lot of fun to shoot while I work it out :)

Congrats on the new purchase!

All of this discussion of CZ75s and CZ97s has convinced me that the next handgun purchase will be a CZ97. I've been fancying them since a MD THR shoot where MDShooter (now PAShooter) let me take a few shots with his.

For my giant paws, there are only a few guns which really feel comfortable and, let's face it, I'm not about to drop nearly $2,000 on a HK SOCOM. At around $550, the 97 may just fit the bill.

nico....hope we can get together at On Target to take a look at that 75

Well you just got one of my Favorite CZ's. The SA is a class act. Just be nice to the plastic trigger, if it gives you trouble.....call CZUSA! Talk to Mike.

The allen head screws are metric and I dont remember the size but should be common and easy to find.

The extractor is just a matter of getting the pin out and replacing the spring.
I dont know that it needs it, the extractor springs seem to be pretty decent.

Nice gun..........Shoot well.

Sure. Drop me a PM the next time you plan on going.

PCRCCW, everything is working fine. It's just that from what I've read on CZforums and this site, it sounds like the extractor is less sensitive to getting gunked up and less ammo sensitive (although mine seems to work fine with the WWB) with the wolff spring, and the ~$5 shipped that it'd cost is pretty cheap insurance. I'll put at least a few hundred more rounds through the gun before I buy anything though.
