A little eye candy - I picked this up from a fellow THR member last summer. It was in nice shape, with Triji's, but I wanted to dress it up a bit. I sent it off to Robar & had them NP-3 the slide & internals, Roguard the frame, polish the feed ramp, and added on some Nills grips.

She shoots nicely. The NP-3 really smoothed-up the action (trigger is sweet), the Nills add just a little bulk over stock, which suits my big paws, and accuracy is decent. She's still a bit finicky with JHP's, though seems to like Gold Dots and HydraShoks OK. No problems with ball.

Now I need to find some nice leather, and maybe a full-sized P5 to keep her company.:D

You know, that's just mean.... Here I sell you a perfectly good P5C that I liked, but didn't want to put a lot of money into with a refinish and new grips, and what do you do? You do almost EXACTLY what I was going to have done in the first place....:banghead: Sometimes life is SOOOOOO unfair!!! :D But I'll get over it! The biggest reason I was going to go with an NP3 refinish was because of how slick it is...and it looks like it did exactly what I was expecting it to do. Just two questions.... Did they have to redo the front Trijicon vial, and why didn't you have the alloy frame NP3'd as well?

Opportunities lost - Rats!

I'm sorry, man, but I had to show it off, I'm just tickled with the end product. I wanted something 'different' and not too common, it seems to have worked out well, eh?

To answer your questions, I originally wanted them to do a black slide & controls over a silver frame, but a couple weeks after sending it off I got a call from Robar saying that they had had problems in the past with NP-3 on Walther frames (it adheres OK, just looks crappy/uneven), so I flipped color scheme. Then they discovered the night sights and had to send it out to replace the front tritium vial (add 3 weeks, ~$70), and it took a while to get the Nills (special order thru Mac-Tac, nice folks to deal with, tho), and Robar lost one of the magazines (which they're replacing - P5 mags is expensive!) So I'm about $400 into it (Robar $260, grips $118, plus shipping to/from, etc.), but I'm pretty happy with the outcome.

I highly recommend Robar, they're very nice (and patient) to deal with and the quality of their work speaks for itself. They offer a full range of gunsmithing/tuning services in addition to refinishing. They're a nice way to personalize a favorite firearm while enhancing the functinality and reliability for a reasonable amount of $$$.
