There is a school in Ohio a few hours from where I live. Tactical Defence Institute. Does anyone here have any experience with them or heard first hand comments? Cost of classes seems pretty good, but I don't want to drop cash and find they cater to blue haired old ladies.

Umm... 'scuse me, but some blue haired ladies might teach you a thing or two as well...

I was introduced to Mr. Brenner at SHOT by a very trusted friend of mine that trains there. My buddy said that if I went and didn't learn more in one day than a week anywhere else he'd pay for the session I attended.

TDI is good people

I really liked TDI. I took both Tactical Rifle (TR) I & II.

TDI's instructors were very experienced and knowledgeable (having current LE service or recent military backgrounds). I felt the training in the TR courses was very effective and improved my skill set with the 5.56 AR-pattern carbine.

Also, in terms of it's physical layout and courses of fire, TDI offers its students a great training facility in which to establish or maintain their shooting and tactical skills: Live Fire Houses, Jungle Trail, 400yd rifle range, etc.

Great training at TDI

I took the Level I-III Handgun courses last spring. A great bunch of guys, an excellent student to instructor ratio, great facility and quality training. I plan to send my son to TDI this spring and I may join him for a refresher before going on to the advanced courses. Great training at any price and a very good value.

Mreising, Welcome!

Great timing! I was actually looking at doing the same courses, Handgun I-III with my wife. All offered one weekend in April. How basic do they start and how advanced do they get by course III? I know it's serious trigger time, they expect you to bring 1800 rounds for three days. I don't think my wife pops that much in three years.
