At least one of each.
This could be a solution.

<sigh> I swore that I wasn't going to buy any more handguns for a while. My K9 & SW 642 are honestly enough for my needs.

But after reading a few 9 v 45 threads, and after reading this one last night and being moved by the sheer beauty of the 1911 in those pics in the first post, I'm beginning to think I may ultimately have to add a 1911 to my collection.

THEN, at least I can solve the debate for myself, even while the rest of you continue to argue amongst yourselves. ;)

<sigh> When will the madness end?

well with the new 9.45 model for 06 already mentioned in this thread thats the coolness of double tapping ;) 9mm is your first sent round followed by the .45 one :D Total coolness if you ask me LMAO!!!

The first round may or may not expand yes, that is correct, but the follow up shot will be larger guaranteed even if it doesnt shrink. ;) So this new model is there for all of the folks that have been wanting to put this 9 vs 45 debate to bed forever, ahhh Im glad the new model arrives late this year in 06, watch for the preview of it at this years shot show

Don't say anything but if you ask me the major ammuniton manufactuer's purposely funded this project to boost ammo sales ;) forcing us all to stock both calibers, Pretty damned smart if you ask me. My early predictions are the .40 will just vanish off the charts :D

Until the second rev comes out in about 3 years. Speculation is calling it the 9.40x45 round, but I still have yet to figure out how that ones gonna work :(

I just realized: All of my semi autos were designed or partially designed by JMB.

Belated Happy New Year.

I am a 9mm guy, but if I every break and buy a .45, it would probably be this one. She is a beaut! I'd name her "Jenny". :)

The 5.56mm is accurate to 600 yards and you can carry more ammo than the 7.62.....

...oh wait....nevermind.

'06, 9mm or .45?

We have the .35 Whelen which is a 9mm bullet, more or less, but a .45 would turn a .30-06 case into a straight case round, not advisable in a bolt rifle, and the .45-70 fills that niche.

Mmmmm .45-70..... uh, I mean happy new year!

Not if either one had enough power.

(or if neither one did). :) If it's loaded properly, the 9mm makes an excellent rd for a pocket gun. It's the ideal centerfire practice round. It's the ideal carry rd for those who won't reload their own .45 ammo, or those who won't practice enough to get 5-6 hits per second with .45 Super loads in light, compact ccw guns. Factory .45 ACP ammo is marginal for stopping power.

In '05 the first pistol I bought was a 9mm and the last one was a 45. I now have twice as many 9's as 45's and that seems about right to me. poppy
