Neat... is it big enough to carry full-size notebooks? 8.5x12" or so?

ETA:That's notebook as in pieces of paper on a ring :)

I don't think the main compartment is quite big enough for an 8.5x11 paper notebook (haha, i thought you meant laptop too!). But probably the next size down.

In fact, I just checked, 8.5x11 certainly will not fit.

Beside an old Fatboy and Zippo for side comparison:

And most of the contents:

I would rather wear a backback (when carrying extra gear) and cc my revolver in a pocket/belt holster. I know it sounds a little silly....

i've seen a lot of guys carry it on their left side, and I almost always do too, because my right side has a gun on it...

And regarding more flashlights & knives, in addition to what you see, I always have a Surefire L2 on me, and a Hideaway Knife on my neck, and a pocket knife of some sort. Typically Emerson, Benchmade, Marlowe, or some custom...

Do you see anything that is missing and I need to add? The meds are in the smaller maxpedition pack attached to the fatboy jumbo:

that thing is awesome...

i do alot of wading/ canoeing/ hiking, and really needed something i could carry a handgun in, but be able to lift it up if i need to get wet (and draw the gun reasonably fast).
Also needed it to have enough room to carry a few small tackle trays and firstaid/emergency stuff, and some tools...

thought i was going to have to stitch it together myself, but i think ive found it.

wow... $80...
didnt see that coming.

Is it possible to carry a compact pistol (kahr k9) in the regular fatboy? would any of there velcro holsters fit in any of its pockets, or could it be modified to accept a cheap nylon holster?

What's that radio in the lower right-hand corner of the picture of your supplies? How do you like it?

That is a Yaesu VX-5R. Here is a closeup of one:

Its a tri-bad ham radio with excellent wide receive. Receieve is: 0.5-16, 47-729 and 800-999 (less cellular). And it transmits on 2 meter, 70cm, and 6 meter.

I like it...works pretty well, but there is a newer more robust and submersible radio much better suited to this job:

Yaesu VX-7R...this one is newer, and works way better IMO. It also has great receive, but also puts up low power output on the 220mhz range....

Thanks, OS. I figured it was a ham radio, and was interested in know how you liked it because I am considered getting the Tech license.

MREs, true...I don't know if I need an entire MRE, but at the moment i'm putting two cliff bars, one low carb bar, and two beef jerkies. I figure that'll hold some people over. I also have vitamins, and two packets of tea, and about 15 packets of splenda.

Cosine, i'd get the Yaesu VX-7R, its an awesome radio, and the battery life is great. Get your tech license, and join us.

here is my take on the maxpedition jumbo versipak.

I was in the market for a bag to wade-fish with. I had looked at a lot of the yuppie fly fishing type gear (simms, william joseph) and none of it really seemed much better than my cheap $15 kmart sling bag. I then saw this thread about the versipak, and found out it is everything i could ask for when i wade. it carrys all my gear, and will easily hold my kahr k9 and extra mag in the "holster pocket". If i ever get my cc permit, ill like this bag even more.
I paid $60 w/shipping by finding a deal over froogle.com. I feel it was worth the cost.

Here is a pic of the pack fully loaded

here is the contents of the pack.

im very happy with the amount of stuff i can carry (and how easy it is to access it all. The pliers and pistol are quick to draw). The pack fully loaded weighs quite a bit with all this stuff, but there is padding at all the contact points so its not a big deal.
