For those of you who shoot IDPA, how many rounds do you usually go through at a match? I am new to this and I have competed in 4 matches at 3 different clubs. At the club I've been to twice I went through about 175-200 rounds (shooting 2nd gun both times) each match. At the other two clubs I have been to it's been probably closer to 50 rounds (first gun only). So, which is closer to normal where you are? What is a normal number of stages? Either way, I can see this is going to cost me in the future, it is dang fun.

That is about the spread that I see.
I started the local club out slow, with four stages, 50 rounds so they could shoot one box of shells and go home in time to mow the grass or watch mutants throw balls around. Now I usually set 6 stages for 70-80 rounds.

I know one club running IPSC Lite that fires 100-120 rounds in a club shoot.

Then there was the time the entire match was about 12 shots. But then it was in total darkness with all target and prop layout concealed behind screens for a suprise night shoot.

Jim's got the correct numbers.

Regualar Match maybe shoot 50 rounds, take 100 rounds

Qualifer match 90 rounds, take 150

State or national match 14 stages 100 rounds, take 200 rounds.

Always want to have a few more in case you get a re-shoot for a stage malfunction..... Keep in mind these are per-gun numbers

I shoot three different IDPA match locations. One we shoot indoors (IDPA Style) and we average about 40-50 rounds.

The scond club has one big outdoor bay we divide into three stages and it averages 40-50 rounds also.

The third club has twelve outdoor bays. We usually shoot seven or eight stages at around 90-110 rounds.

At our state match we had eleven stages and right at 200 rounds minimum.

50 rounds is a little on the low end around here (probably because most poeple i know wouldn't get out of the house for 50 rounds)

I would say at the different clubs in this area we probably average about 75-90 rounds. Most places run 4-5 stages.

One of the things I think would bring more shooters in is if they nixed the 18-round per stage limit. Sometimes you have to drive 45 minutes or more to get to a match and it is always a bit annoying when you only shoot 6 rounds a stage.

I don't mind the 18 round limit, if they would just nix the six round stages, like you say. Then I wouldn't stand around for 30 mins. to shoot for 10 seconds. I think something around 12 rounds would be a good minimum, but I'm new to this and maybe there are reasons I don't know about for why things are like they are. It wouldn't bother me if I went through 500 rounds at a match. With 40 or 50 people it would probably take until Sunday morning to get finished though.

At CCIDPA we average around 90 rounds up to 120 or so if folks are up to it. USPSA runs 150-175 rounds.

My local IDPA club usually runs 6-8 stages, and about 100-150 rounds.

It takes most of us at least an hour to drive out there, and I'll be damned if I'm going to drive that far for a 50 round match. :p

Our matches at the Greenville Gun Club are 6 stages, and I don't think I've ever been to one where the round count was outside the range of 80 to 95 on the extremes. ~87 is just about normal. I usually take ~120 rounds just in case.

The thing I really like about IDPA is it gives me a break from IPSC. I don't want to shoot more than 70-80 rounds in 7-8 stages. :)

Correia,

I'm with you. I drive a fair distance to get to matches, I want to do some shootin' while I'm there.

Also, this is pretty much the only chance I get to shoot on a regular basis. I could go to an indoor range but I don't really enjoy that so I don't bother. The clubs I shoot matches at would be great, but I don't live close enough, to be able to use them often enough to join. What I need to do is buy some property that I can set up my own little bunker and shoot whenever I want, but that may take a while to put together

120 ish around here. 6 stages, and two 10 round mags suffice.

At my local range we typicaly shoot 100 rounds give or take 20 and there is always a side match for shotguns that runs about 25-50 rounds. I did shoot IDPA at an indoor range where we averaged 75 rounds a night and the other outdoor range I went to was similiar to this one with about a 100 rounds per outing.
