The STI Trojan is half the price of the other guns you mention. There is no comparison with them.

The STI is a great gun and a good value.

Depends on which STI you are talking about. A custom STI would be at least equal to those you mentioned. But which model? An Eagle? nothing really to compare there. Lawman? probably about the same. Edge? I have two STIs (a VIP and an LS) both are excellent guns. The VIP is one of my favorite carry guns, but it isn't as nice as my SV.

I have longslide Trojan that's a shooter. It is fit TIGHT but it is no match for more expensive guns in the looks/materials dept. I hate the plastic mainspring housing and the cast frame. All the money in this thing went to making it shoot, and that is what it does.

Although I've never owned one, I think STI compares very well with the other brands you mentioned, especially considering the price. For what it's worth, I personally would choose an STI over a Baer. It would be a toss-up between STI and Wilson. I might slightly favor a Brown over an STI, but not by much. They're all very good guns, so go with the one you like best.

First reply in this forum. I would say that among the top three semi-custom shops it's a toss up. I own a Wilson Profession and a LB Thunder Ranch. Don't have the Ed Brown becuase of the way I feel I was treated when going through the ordering process. Does that mean he makes a poor gun. Heck NO!! I was going to own one but I want the people I do business with to treat me well. Now to your question about STI. I don't think that they come into play the players mentioned above. Reason is all three majors use forged parts. Big plus. They should be hand fitted and test fired. I know my Baer and WC were. I have handled all including STI, and shot them. Not trying to be a turd but the old saying of you get what you pay for is true. Excersize patients save your money and buy one of the top three.

Some of the STI's are almost $1,000 less than most of the other 3 makers guns, but STI makes many more models than just the Trojan with prices ranging up to about $2,000 and beyond, depending on what you want.
And the traditional, non-modular models do use forged parts, including the frame.
