5.45X39 ?

Just thought I would ask here if anyone has seen anyone who has 5.45 ammo available. I checked online at several different places and could not find anyone who had any in stock. Sportsman Guide looked like they had it, but they said shippment was expected in August. Any help would be appreciated.

I stopped by the gun show in Pasadena today. There was 7.62X39 in abundance though at around $160/1000. The same guys had a lot of .223 of different types and some Portugese .308 on belts. I heard them talking that they had brought several cases of South African .308, but sold it all.
 
Only place i found 5.45 was the Gunshop that did my WASR 2 xfr from AIM. Was about $.30 more than Sportsmanguide. But the guide says my order of 5.45 should ship around june. The gunshop has around 30 boxes or so.

Would that gun shop be anywhere near Houston?

If the WASR2 from AIM wasn't so cheap, I would be upset. :) I can wait, but I would like to put a few rounds down range and check magazines.

Either way, sounds like I may want to go ahead and put in my order to get in line for August. We'll see.
 
My local gunshop here in Iowa City always has plenty of 5.45 for me for about $6 per 25 or better if I buy in bulk. I usually have no problem finding it, but your best bet is to really look around some of the AK boards (akfiles.com) and talk to some of the AK junkies in your general area to find out who is selling for good prices.

Check J&G Sales - I think they have some in stock for a really good price per 1000.


PS - Everyone should own a rifle in 5.45x39.
 
I have seen zero....

545 at the last two gunshows in the DFW area...........not much 762x39 either.......chris3
 
In the MD area it seems a bit hard to find. I don't own one, just heard guys talking about how little of it was around. My ammo dealer only had 2 (20rd) boxes and didn't seem to think he would have anymore anytime soon.

Seems to look good for 8mm surplus and 54r if you're into those rounds.
 
I didn't think about AK47.net. Good idea.

J&G Sales website says they are out of stock. I might have to call them and ask. Several web sites I checked said they were out of stock.

Thats just Bob teasing us. Its on the way, he will list details when he has it. Keep an eye on that link it will be very soon.
 
I called the guy on the link about the ammo. He doesn't have it yet, but said he would update his website when he gets it. He said it is coming in port now. He said he thinks he has enough to satisfy most requests. He said he has gotten way too many calls and would likely bring someone in to take orders. :)

Makes me wonder who else might have some coming in. We'll see.
 
The guy at Gulf Coast Ammo said he expected some 5.45 in 3 weeks to a month.
The other FALfiles link above has the prices posted now, but I haven't been able to get through on the phone.
 
FYI, I pre-ordered with the guys from mtang's link above. The ammo is surplus corrosive in sealed tins according to what I was told. They said it is in country but held up on the docks. Hopefully, it won't take too long. :)
$167/1080, $323/2000 plus shipping.
