I found a couple of oddly marked .38 special brass while resizing tonight.

One is marked T Z Z with an 88 below it.

The other (which I think I've seen before) is marked W C C with a 99.

Anyone know the makers of these brass, I'm guessing the numbers are the production years, but I dont know who T Z Z and W C C are.

The TZZ is Isreali manufactured I believe but don't know what it stands for off the top of my head. The WCC is definitely Winchester Cartridge Company. The 88 and 99 refer to the year of manufacture.

That's correct, TZZ is loaded by IMI (Isreal Military Industries) and WCC is loaded by Western Cartridge Company (Winchester). The number on both headstamps indicates the year of manufacture and will in all likelihood have been military ammunition.

IMI has also used the headstamp TZ. Both companies have had, and currently have, contracts with the U. S. government to supply ammunition for our armed forces, but due to political considerations, the IMI ammunition is only being used stateside for military training, since it would cause such an uproar if it was used in a Muslim dominated country.

You'll find TZZ and TZ headstamps on 5.56, 7.62, .38 Special, 9mm and .45 ACP ammunition. The same applies to WCC, only with more calibers.

Hope this helps.

Fred

Thanks guys. I should have realized that W C C was Winchester, turns out I have some 5.56 ammo with the same headstamp.
