don't laugh - rimfires and beaver

I've got a hunch that whoever transcribed the "rules" onto the website used a slightly diffrent wording that completely changed the meaning of the sentence. To make 100% certian it probably wouldn't hurt to call or E-mail the AGFC.

Or then again if you're being accosted by gameranger Bob you're a lot more likely to have "tha book" with you than the website.

Having shot my share of woodcucks (20-30 lbs for big ones around here) with a .22LR, I'd definitely go for a .22 WMR w/ headshots. Tough buggers, and not nearly asbig as Beaver (I don't think we can shoot beaver, here, have to check...but I think they can only be trapped.)

According to an earlier post, shotguns with size T or smaller shot are legal. Lead shot in that size range is very effective at appropriate ranges on beaver; in fact, a shotgun is my first choice for sneaking along creeks for beaver.

So the cited regulation says 22 caliber rimfire. It does not say "not larger than," so it appears the .17 calibers are eliminated. But it doesn't appear to say ".22LR," so is the .22 Magnum considered a 22 caliber rimfire?

I have been thinking along the same lines. I got a box of Winchester Super X #4 shot shells today for my 20 gauge. There are some Stingers and Velocitors for the .22, too. Rambo has nothing on me.

It depends on where you're lookin. In the book it says "not larger than .22 rimfire". On the website it says " any ammunition for rifle or handgun other than .22 caliber rimfire"
