selected the stainless model, although I like the looks of the blued bearcat better. I will be carrying it while hiking and fishing here in central PA. I pick it up next Thursday! :D

Congrats on picking a nice gun. I love my Bearcat. I have a blued one, but can definitely see the advantage of going with the stainless.

I'd wanted one for some time and finally a couple Christmases ago, the wife bought me a blued one. Promptly ordered a set of Lett grips for it. A real fun gun to shoot. Have thought about a stainless one also. Who knows...Christmas is coming...:p

30 yers ago, bought my soon-to-be-wife a Ruger Super Bearcat as her first gun (you just gotta keep the ones who like to shoot). Katrina took that one away, so last August bought here a new Stainless bearcat (and BTW...Ruger should have marketed it as the "New Super Bearcat" as Bearcats were Al. and Super Bearcats were steel).

Of course I had to try it out; once she takes ownership I'll never get a chance to shoot it again.

Good news...the modern ones aen't sighted in for 117yards (my way of saying all of the old ones seemed to shoot about 6" high at 25yards.), they still go "click//click//click" even with the transfer bar, and they ahve a 1/4 cock notch and don't free-wheel as soon as you open the loading gate.

Wife loves it...she still loads five, just like she did with the old original, but that's OK by me.

BTW: to load five (in case someone out there has an old model): load one, skip a chamber, load four, roll it back to full cock and lower the hammer doen...it's on the empty chamber.

Now I'm really getting anxious >>

I'm 58 and just looking at a Ruger single action makes me feel like a yougin' again. Funny how nostalgic I'm getting, really...

I have a blued New Model, and love it. I did have to file the front sight down a little, but that's okay, its a whole lot better than adding metal! I also had a trigger job done, and it is a keeper.

I have New Bearcats in blued and stainless. The only problem I have had is the rear sight is too narrow. I opened them both a little with a square jewlers file.

Of all the guns I don’t own, yet, the Bearcat is my favorite and on my shopping list. If not for California’s one-new-gun-a-month policy, I’d have it already.

Blued or steel, you can't go wrong with a Ruger.

Congratulations, it’s beautiful.
