I am not really sure where to start.

I want to sell a pistol I bought a while back but I have no idea how much to ask for it.

It is a Colt .38 Special 4" barrel I believe

markings on the barrel are, one side, Official Police 38 special CTG
on the other side Colt's mfg co hartford ct, USA

Original grips, finish is a little rough

thanks for any help anyone can provide

I can take pics if that helps. Although I would just like a ballpark figure

As the saying goes, a picture is worth a thousand words.
Let's see it. You can't judge a gun description by, "it's a little rough".

In my area old Colts are not exactly plentiful. Your revolver would likely be priced at $300-350 here. It would sell for $250-300 here. A quick check of Auction Arms bears that out as a ball park figure.

If you take it to a dealer to sell it, expect to get half that figure.

I would never take it to a dealer to sell it, I am hoping to use this forum to find someone near me to buy it,

thanks for your info, so in your opinion $350 would not be a crazy amount to ask for?

Anyone else feel free to comment

thanks for your response, the gun is still pretty accurate (don't know if that says anything about good bore), I am not sure how to gauge the action, but to me it feels silky smooth.
