San Francisco school board just voted to do away with JrROTC in all it's high schools next year. Basic reason is that US Military is discrimanatory toward gay people. I guess we need not plan to defend SF any more, and we should now remove all military installations (and their payrolls) from the bay area!!

We should build a wall around the Bay Area. Secede them from the rest of the state. The rest of California would go red, Boxer and feinstein would have to stay in SF because nobody else would have them, and California and the nation would generally be better off.

I would be delighted to not have the military defending SF, and not have SF pay for the military either. What threats are there? Who is going to invade California? What do we need this military for?

I cannot understand why these moonbats hate the military so much. Sure SanFran is mad about the gays in the military policy, but there are lots of other protests of college ROTC and military recuiters.

The military has allways been the most successful way for the poor and impovrished to improve their cultural standing. When the Roman Empire created the Legion, any free man could join, serve the Empire for a number of years and retire with a full pention. Members of the Legion were also exposed to opertunities for promotion, plunder, distinguishing themselves as heros, and getting appointed political positions. Much of the Legion was governed through "merit based" promotions, so a poor farmer had the ability to climb the ranks if they were able.

Fast forward 2000 years....

In our modern army, people living below the poverty line can join up, earn a livable wage (not high enough, but better than McDonalds), receive medical treatment for themselves and their families, and again retire with a pention. Also the military gives money for college and will even send enlisted men to college for free to become officers. Poor hillbillies and inner city youths whos' families have never had more than a highschool education can now get into universities.

I don't have the numbers, but it would be interesting to see just how many black students the military has sent to college vs the NAACP.
