I've been looking at the Rem 700 in my sig. Nice gun! Only problem is the trigger pull is VERY heavy. Is there any way to lighten up the pull without investing in a $200 aftermarket setup?
LkWinnipesaukee, I have the same rifle in 223 and the best I could do was 2.5 pounds per their instructions. It seemed the spring was a little bit heavy because if I would try to go lower than 2.5 pounds the pull weights would be very inconsistant, unsafe in my opinion. That setting was far better than the factory setting however. I'm sure your experience my not be the same as mine so be careful and always err on the side of safety.
Timny trigger from Numrich or Midway USA etc... they usually run from $69 - $125 depending on vendor Sportsmans guide has I believe the Basiks trigger assemblys on sale for even less, these are all completally tunable triggers that are drop in
I'd try adjusting the factory trigger first. I've done it. After 8-10# originally, it felt like a feather after some tuning. Be SURE to follow the thing about bumping the stock on the floor to make sure it's got good contact.
Keep the original if you decide to change it out. If you ever have to send it back for work, Remington will replace your aftermarket with one of their factory originals.
Make an atempt to tune the stock trigger to your liking. Directions are all over the net. If you cant get it to your satisfaction be prepared to make an aftermarket investment. Good Luck....Essex
