I just got back from the gun show with a used Sig 226 9mm. it says made in West Germany on the other side it has sigarms Herndon, VA it also has TPD-248 on the frame and on the bottom of the frame under the barrel it says KA with a M above it and 2 markings that are hard to tell what they are. I am going to add pics when I get my GF digital camera. From what I described does any know any info on this gun?

TNT.45,
Your 226 is from the Herndon,Va plant Sig was only there for a few years and introduced the 226 at that plant. The gun seems to be a very early 226 Police Dep. trade in. But I'm no expert..... just have a 220 from Herndon so I know the history of that plant.

Definitely a trade-in. I bought one. Made in 1989. Significant, but not excess holster wear on the slide. Virtually no wear on the frame. Came with the original box and papers as well as a qualification sheet for the officer to which it was issued in 1990. The police department is Toledo (Ohio) Police Department. They apparently "upgraded" to 226s in .40 about a year or so ago.

Originally by contract, these were to go only to LEOs, but apparently there just wasn't enough interest and that stipulation was changed.

I'm glad. I own an agency marked Glock 22. Kind of nifty little collector's niche.

I have 2 of its siblings: TPD 333 and 543.I almost bought 2 more, but the shop only got about 10 them in and there was a line of guys behind me wanting one so I didn't want to look like the nasty greedmonster scarfing up all the cheap SIG's.They're typical older 226's:beat to snot finish, rattle like mad and shoot as good as anything.
