Super Redhawks can play too, I guess...

Post pics if you have them. I don't know much about the redhawk, other than I want a big-bore wheelgun.

I'm a SRH fan. Have a .454 Casull.

But alas I've decided to sell it to finance my first AR.........before the AWB puts prices out of my modest reach.

I kinda like them there Redhawks myself...I have three.

The top two in this picture are both 41mag Redhawks. The top one has a 7.5" barrel with a 2X Leupold EER Scope I use for Whitetail hunting here in Texas, the other is a 5.5" that accompanies me when I am rifle hunting.

This is my pride & joy though. I took another 5.5" 41mag and cut the barrel to 4" and recrowned it myself. I dehorned the whole gun, polished all trigger parts and even rounded the corners of the grip. I then worked the original grips to match. I then mounted a new front sight with interchangable blades from Weigan Combat. I did have to have someone else machine the slot for that sight. I know that Ruger is now making a 4" Redhawk, but I have the only one in 41mag. I am very proud of how it turned out.

I had a 5.5" .357 once. It was a really nice gun and even pretty accurate but my gosh it was huge for the caliber. My GP-100 has all the strength I'll ever need for the .357 so the Redhawk left to fund other adventures. I often think a 5.5" in .41mag would be a match made in heaven for me but they're hard to find and when you do they want more money than they're really worth as a shooter.

That sure is a pretty piece you have there Big Mike!

Acutally a .41 on an N-frame is perfect. A .41 Redhawk would be even heavier. And the N-frame is just a wee bit light for the .44 mag cartridge.

The Redhawk in anything over a 6-incher is a horse pistol, in my opinion. They ought to come with training wheels.

I have a 5.5" stainless in .44 magnum.

Its a beautiful gun with excellent ergonomics when used as a "family car". What I mean is that it is a great shooter at normal loads: .44 specials up to low to moderate powered .44 magnums. However, I find that when used as a "race car" the recoil is brutal... the big bear loads tear my hands apart. The grip shape for my hands does not work well for nuclear level .44 magnum loads.

And no, I'm NOT sensitive to .44 magnum recoil. I can fire the nuclear bear loads in my Ruger Bisley Hunter with no problems--that grip shape to me does a good job of making a painful load manageable.

I use my Redhawk with mostly .44 specials.

I will fire normal .44 magnums out of it, but I go to the Bisley Hunter when I want to fire the hottest .44 magnum loads. I consider my Redhawk to be a great home defense revolver when loaded with .44 Specials. I'd like to pick up a 4" Redhawk as a home defense revolver one day, using exclusively .44 specials in it. That would reduce over penetration (when compared to .44 magnum loads).

Mine is the gun

I shoot most. It is ss, 7.5 inch barrel and chambered in .44.
It is lots of fun to shoot and after a box of magnums, the .357 feels like a .22.

They are a great gun. They are heavy and they take the pain of the recoil off a little bit. I have two-41mag and 45lc. I have been eyeing up one in 44mag for awhile. They can take hotloads very well. They are very strong. Some people don't like the factory grips, but I like them. Some of the older models came with the rings and the rail ready for hunting or just to scope it. Compaired to other revolvers in 44mag the redhawk is a good deal. To my knowledge they have made the redhawk in 357, 41mag, 45lc, and 44mag. I found both of mine used very little and they were under $400. Some people get trigger jobs on theirs, because the action is not as krisp as the smiths. I have yet to touch mine. They work fine for me, and I also have smiths:confused: Hope this helps.

Presently I have two: 480 Super Redhawk, and blue 41 mag Redhawk. There will be more as time goes on. I like them, but I like Smiths and Colts better.

I favor them too.

Only have 1 right now, a blued 5.5" in 44magnum. I put a Hogue hardwood monogrip on it and it is perfect.

I'd like to get a 7.5" stainless in 44mag some day...

I do not own one. However my brother and uncle both do.

My uncle had his ported and a trigger job done right out of the box. I thought it was the way to go. But then I went with my brother to the range with his new SRH. I have to say that i think my uncle wasted cash.

The SRH was sweet to shoot. I put about 40 rounds through it. Recoil was not bad, it got kinda rough on my hands at the end but for hunting this would rock. The double action was smooth and single action was crisp and sweet.

I don't see myself hunting with one because I don't get out much but if I did I would have one waiting to go.
