I have looked over the years, but I have never come across a 5.5" Redhawk in .44 Mag. I don't like the Super Redhawk, so that's not even a question.

Anyone know where to find an old stock NIB Redhawk? Or want to trade a LNIB Redhawk for something?

Since Ruger quit making them, I want to expedite the search!

I looked for about 4 years for a 5.5" Redhawk in 45 colt. One day I was killing time during lunch and walked into a LGS. They had one for $500. I spent $500 that day at lunch

That sounds familiar... I was killing time with a friend one weekend at a gunshow, and saw a 7.5" Redhawk in .45 Colt. I adopted it on the spot. I paid a little over $500 for mine, but not a HELLUVA lot over that.

Even very hot loads (though not hi-pressure enough to exceed the 30K psi mark) are fairly controllable. Loaded with 14K psi loads, it shoots like an N-frame S&W, loaded with .38 Spl wadcutter ammo. But it HITS like a 12-pound sledge hammer on the other end (first time I've ever heard a falling-plate go "OOOF!" while falling over, it was hit with a factory .45 Colt load).

AND, if I could find a 5.5" Redhawk in .45 Colt, I'd try to adopt IT, TOO.

Ruger hasn't dropped the Redhawk, it's just suspended till the new factory's on line.

I may be wrong, but I think the 5.5" 44 has been dropped and for a while now. I know the 5.5" 45 colt was dropped a few years ago

mine went to an online mate last august. i'm in a disaccumulating state of mind and he mentioned a grail gun... it was lnib with dies, cases and ~400 keith bullets. package was higher but the gun, same ball park, ~500$.

Ruger's CEO says they have a lot of catching up to do with the Redhawks, once the new plant's operational.
With expanded production capability, I'd expect a corresponding expansion in offerings.

Terry- yours had to be used... I bought one of the first redhawks- or should say dad did and I got my first 5.5 in 81 or so... Shot thousands of rounds out of it and bought a new one back in the day with the scope rings in blue on close out for 289- not that I needed it but for that price even then I could not say no. They were or are all 44 mags and i love em. I got a 7.5 scoped model in stainless and 45 colt on a trade last year and it is sweet! But I do love that first 5.5!
