I have a Kel-Tec P-3AT that required a pretty good "fluff n' buff" (see KTOG for details) and has been flawless since. Adding the +1 round extension onto the magazines makes a world of difference in control but some dislike the extra size.

Kahr PM9 is nice and I may get one eventually but it was out of my budget at the time my CCW permit came :D

Some will mention the Taurus Millennium Pro as well. Awesome gun, Taurus got it exactly right on that one and I love mine (it's my primary CCW) but the people who call it a pocket gun must have some damn big pockets!

Consider the Colt Pocket Nine ...

... about the same size as a PPK but with 6+1 rounds of 9mm instead of 6+1 rounds of .380ACP that is found in the PPK.

After more than 20 years of concealed carry with approximately 10 or so different handguns, my only words of wisdom is that trial and error will eventually lead you to the system right for you, reading all the posts, it seems to be as individual a conclussion as any other personal choice. I like Chinese, you like Mexican, there are days I don't want to go near Chinese. Some days I take the Bulldog, other days it will be the 296, and yet other days it will be both. Sometimes I pocket carry (with & w/o holster), other times a shoulder holster and still others it is locked in the car (but I never leave home w/o it). It's nice to get opinions but I bought and sold many guns and gave away many holsters until I came up with a reasonably comfortable method...that doesn't always work 100%.

Give some thought to the Kimber Ultra Carry II. It has much more firepower than the mouse guns and the .38 snubbies, more rounds than the snubbies, reloads faster and fits just fine. I carry one about 80% of the time, an IWB .45 the rest of the time. I do not wear cargo pants but carry in jeans, casual and dress pants with no problem. It draws easily, reholsters easily and prints like a wallet in my Sam Andrews www.andrewsleather.com pocket holster.

My old Grendel P12. No longer available, but 12 rounds of .380 in a smaller than P11 package. It's always been 100 percent with carry loads, but I rarely carry or shoot it anymore. I usually have the P11 or M85UL in a front pocket. But, if they absolutely won't do for dress reasons, I have this.

>hang the P3AT around your neck<

dawgfvr do you carry around your neck? can you get it out quikly?

Hi Bill, I remember buying a knife or something from you here a while back. I also recommend you check into the Rohrbaugh. It has snappy recoil - not painful but you have to hold it good for it to cycle. You will find them for around $1k. Expensive? Yeah, but my life is worth that.

Before I would pay a buck for a Rorbaugh...

To summarize, the load delivers in excess of 1222 f.p.s. velocity to a 60 grain proprietary bullet from Hornady. This generates 199 ft. lbs of energy, specifically from the 2.5" Guardian barrel (1453 f.p.s. & 287 ft. lbs from a 4" test barrel).

According to industry expert Ed Sanow, the 32NAA:

Produces more velocity, more energy and more stopping power than any conventional jacketed lead hollow point (JHP) 32 ACP, 380 ACP or 380 ACP (+P) with 15% less recoil (Power Factor) than the (+P),

$499 list. A hundred for a few boxes of hot proprietary COR BON and use the rest of the money to get a PM9 or a new for 2007 S&W M&P 340. Son of 360PD.

All bases covered.

Well, I ended up getting both a 642 and a PM9. I plan to go shoot both later this week and make up my mind which one to keep...

Bill, with Summer around the corner, I'm sure a lot of us are interested in your results! Definitely let us know how it turns out!

My Bersa Thunder .380 CC is a comfortable pocket piece with or without a holster. I've got it in the pocket of my shorts right now. Its cheap, reliable, compact and reasonably accurate. It also holds 8 + 1 rounds, which is nice. My only complaint is the low-profile sights, which I don't care for.

The Taurus 85 Ultra-Lite I just bought my wife is also great. Its very small and weighs very little, but its a great little gun and shoots a somewhat more effective round than my Bersa. I could easily pocket it.

S&W 642/442 if revolver is your thing...
or a S&W CS9 :D:D if semiauto..

7+1 in 9mm...6+1 in .45ACP (CS45)..

A neighbor of mine recently bought the PM40 from Kahr. It ran really well to 100 rounds with UMC ball, then it got grungy and started not cycling well. I liked the trigger as it was quite a bit lighter than my PT145 by comparison. And it had night sights. I would buy one, but I have seen the bad press from some of them, it might be a hit or miss purchase. In that regard, if it didn't run well, send it back, if it continues not to work, bash on em here like the rest and move to another gun.

Kahr will refund the purchaser if they cannot fix the gun. I read that from a user here on THR.

Personally though, from what I've read, I think I'd go with a S&W chiefs special in 45 or 40. But I'm loyal to the big bores and have read that the S&W autos eat ammo like a teenage boy.
