P-3AT with +1 extension and extra mag in either Smartcarry or DeSantis Nemesis depending on clothing. A P-11 will join it soon.

S&W 642 in a CTAC or Smart Carry on those quick trips to the store. I used to carry a P-11 in a High Noon Bare Asset and that worked out ok.

Right now for the hot Virginia summer, it's a Glock 32. In the fall and winter it's usually a government size 1911.

I do have an HK P2000sk and an HK P2000 to go with it. Unfortunately we are not allowed to carry a firearm in the state of Illinois.

They are very nice guns and they are excellent carry weapons. I really recommend getting one. The LEM trigger is a great carry system.

The majority of the time when I carry it is my old, beat up, bobbed hammer, S&W Model 60 .38 Spl. It is just so easy to carry that I have no excuse not to carry it. I have practiced with it quite a bit, and I shoot it well enough that on a good day I can hit a gallon milk jug at 100 yards with it, offhand. That's right I said 100 yards with a snubby .38 from standing. I've won my share of bets doing that, care to make a wager? ;)

This picture makes the gun's finish look nicer than it actually is. It has numerous dings and scratches when viewed in person. You can see the rust on the grip screw though. I keep forgetting to find a stainless steel replacement screw for it. Anyone know where I can find one?

We issue a sig 229r, which I carry occasionally off duty, mainly to court or other police functions. If I'm going somewhere that I consider more "high risk" than average I'll carry either it, a Glock 19, or my new 21sf. I use either Comp Tac or Serpa for those. 90% of the time what I carry these days is a Smith 642 in a left front pocket holster (same place I carry it as a BUG on duty) with a speedloader in my right front pocket and a strip in my hip pocket.

I've got some other things that get carried occasionally, ranging from a old 2 inch model 10 to a 6.5 inch model 29-2 (go ahead, make my day...). I've got a 457 that I like a lot, but rarely carry.

If I had to reccomend a carry weapon to someone it would be the Glock 19. I consider it a perfect combination of size, capacity, effectiveness, and reliability.

Here are my babies.

The HK USPc in .40 S&W in my main carry gun, but the Taurus 605 in .357 mag is my " ultra super deep concealment" gun. I carry the Taurus when I go into antigun establishments (such as where I work) and ABSOLUTELY must not print.

S&W 642 when I am at work in my pocket...dressed in shirt/tie but no coat
When not at work...usually a Glock 23.

Possible summer choices:
Kel-Tec PF-9
S&W Model 37
Bulgarian Makarov
Bersa Thunder .380
This summer, I've mainly carried the Kel-Tec PF-9.

Winter, more choices in addition to the above:
Glock 36
Sig 228
HK P7
Full size Springfield 1911

Always backed up year round by a Kel-Tec P-32.

Also a Ruger Sp101. Of course not all at once. People might think I was paranoid or something......:uhoh: Ugh Excuse me, I need to go tape my windows and get some fresh garlic before sundown and the zombies start coming out

In less than 2 weeks (come on gov't paperwork!), I'll carry this one:

Hi,

This is representative of what I carry. I have different variations on the hardware themes but the Taurus is almost a constant as I've done the gunsmithing - a carry package including increased reliability to where it never malfed after break in, and made it shoot sub-2", 5 shot groups at 25yds. Once got a sub-1" 3" group, but I chalk that up to a fluke.

While some would argue that the two spare magazines, backup hangun, cellphone, light, Leatherman, and knife are "overkill," I would counter that this equipment is probably about perfect for this day and age, especially in a town filled with wayward teens who roam in packs looking for victims.

The Taurus is almost always on me. The spare magazines are not so much for firepower as they are for malfunction clearance. The .380acp is used interchangably with a 38 Spl snub, but cellphones are a necessity of life anymore as, even if they have no service, they must by law be capable of dialing 911. The flashlight and Leatherman are rescue tools - ones I've used to good effect in the past. The Spyderco knife is my combat folder, and I've been trained in its use. Though I prefer my fixed-blade Cold Steel Master Hunter, I won't snub a good combat folding knife.

Too much? Some say so. I don't think one can ever have "too much" these days, unless the load impedes movement, preventing one from running from a threat.

Just my take.
