Before my last 9mm purchase, I fired a Beretta 92, a CZ 75, and a Glock 17. I bought a CZ75DAO (double action only). It fit my hand the best. It is all steel and pretty easy to shoot in rapid fire. Besides, I got it new, with a 10 rd. & a 15 rd. magazine, for $320 out the door. I am very happy with it. Note: I have a medium size hand and my finger is just long enough to reach the double action trigger.

First choice: Sig P228
Second choice: Sig P226
Distant 3rd: Beretta--big yet short grip, stupid lever on slide design, still well-made gun that looks nice.
Last: CZ--best thing going for it is it's cheap and reliable with good ergos. Worst trigger on any production gun short of a Hi-Point or Jennings.

I have a CZ75BD in 9MM, and it holds 16+1. The DA trigger on it's a little strong, but nothing that can't be overcome. In SA mode... WOW. It's unreal how beautiful it fires.

Never fired a Beretta. Don't have a need to.

Sigs are alright, but the grip angle doesn't agree with me, much like a Glock.

In the following order of preference for carry/self defense. For range only, reverse the order.

Sig 228

Sig 226

What's a CZ?

CZ all the way. I would have saved Thousands of dollars if I'd only quit experimenting and stayed true blue to the See-Zed.

P-226 was a problem child from day one..

92F Police Special was an issued gun.

reliable but wide in the grip, by then I was spoiled by CZs:)

same with their fine rifles!

I guess CZIMPLY THE BEST! says it all!!

I've shot all three. The Sig's firing pin retention pin walks itself out of the slide, and the clearances in the chamber are so tight that shooting more than 600 rounds without cleaning causes the gun to jam.

I don't like the trigger on the Beretta.

I have the CZ 75 P01, and it's been reliable with over 2500 rounds and no cleaning.

CZ for me. All steel, ergo's are great, it's SA/DA so no need to carry cocked and locked, 14+1 capacity. Easy to break down and clean and will hit what it's aimed at.

A lot of people bad mouth the Beretta but I never really understood why, its my favorite double action 9mm pistol. The trigger feels great after a couple years of shooting (on my taurus PT99). Even in double action I love it and I am a 1911 person. Its one of the best looking pistols made and it pretty darn accurate. The grip angle fits my hand perfectly and it is the perfect weight. The pistol is NOT heavy at all, its surprisingly light. Sure it isn't as light as the polymers but that extra weight keeps the recoil down.

But for a reason...

I'm going with the P226 for two reasons:

1. I REALLY like the way they feel in my hand (along with their .45 big brother, the P220), and

2. I already have a 92FS, which shoots (and hits) like clockwork.

In defense of the CZ-75, I'll give it up for a clone, the Magnum Research Baby Eagle. That thing feels too good to be true. It is also my wife's next CCW.

Here we go again

Buy the one that fits YOU the best.
All three are great weapons that will serve you well, and you can't go wrong with which ever one you choose.
Personally, I voted Sig. I have two P226's and they are awesome guns. IMHO - The fit and finish is the best of the three listed.
I have a pre-ban CZ75 that is just as accurate as my Sigs and I shoot it equally as well. I don't don't own a 92, but I have a 96 that I like alot (it serves as my HD gun).

All 3 would get my vote but

...

I voted "other"; as all 3 are great choices, but, IMHO, you have to ask yourself:

All good for HD/SD but,

1. Will the gun be for range shooting, competition, only? IF yes, Beretta

2. Will the gun be for both range and CCW only? IF yes, Sig

3. If gun will be for range and CCW, but price is an issue over 600 bucks, CZ

Enjoy whichever you choose, none of them will disappoint you.

Savage92: The Beretta slides fractured because the soldiers were firing NATO machine gun ammunition in them. This ammunition is loaded to much higher pressures than the standard pistol round, and can damage any handgun that fires it. The difference is about 7,000 psi of chamber pressure, so be careful. Read more here

fmnnc: They're all good pistols. My preference should be obvious, but the best advice has already been given. Shoot all three of them, if you can, and buy the one that shoots the best in your hands.

Of course, it will be made by SigArms.

The Sig... but only if someone else is paying for it. If I'm paying, the CZ. The Beretta, if it fits you better than the others (its grip is just a bit too big for me).

I'd seriously consider an M&P also - the price is competitive to the "inexpensive" CZ and it's American made!

Though I own none of the above, I voted for Sig just because it is the only one listed that I care own. I would rather have a 229 or 239 than the 226.
