my advice to the American government

I would be less worried about selling firearms to the 500 possible terrorist in America and more worried about selling to the millions of terrorist in other countries.

Remember, a few months ago they armed the "freedom fighters" with weapons I can't even legally own.

I have to diversify my investment portfolio.

Weapons are a hard asset that do not generate any tax liability(cash flow) the only problem is you not taking deprecation or if your me ever relized a gain or loss. If all of my stocks and bonds went to zero and all of my energy became worthless.

My BHP was lonesome. It needed another 9mm to keep it company.

--my excuse when buying a Bersa UC9 not long ago. :D

Springmom

the catch all " i dont have one of these yet' and " the ones in my safe need another brother"

Because my <insert gun here> doesn't shoot like the <insert new gun here>

Usually there are no excuses, it's just simply, "Because I can and because I want to"

I like simple weapons
:
I saw it in a video game
A fine enumeration of well-reasoned and emminently sound justifications for a firearm purchase. So where's this list of "dubious excuses"?

To elaborate on Working Man's post,

"Because I want cool pictures that make people go "oooo, aaaaaa" in the THR [insert various club or picture thread here]"

I used "I can kill a deer with it" ,until I used that excuse for a NAA mini( and she realized there had been no venison in 2 years). jim

:D That's a good one *looks at his NAA companion*

. . . well, I saw this pendant with the big rock in the jewelry store and got it for you and thought you would feel guilty if I didn't get myself the Ruger and the SIG. I can take everything back if you want.

if it is on sale begin with I save $X dollars by buying this.

Or The gun safe has an empty and state law requires that you must have a gun in each slot, when the safe is full then state law requires you buy a new safe.

The last one I used was I still do not have as many guns as you have shoes.

note the is a DANGEROUS excuse to try shoes have been know to fly and at close range they have the same stopping power as a 9mm

My current desire for a 1911 was spawned by this train of thought: since the only calibers I own worth reloading for are 9 mm and .223, when I finally do pick up my reloading setup (a Lee turret), I might as well get a .45 just to make it more worth while and to save me money in the long run.

I still haven't figured out how buying a new pistol will save me money, but hell, logic is overrated anyways.

"I'm trying to complete my all-caliber collection from the 2mm Swiss watch chain revolvers through the .11 Kolibri semiautomatic and then on up to the .69 caliber Springfield." (Ducks shoe.)

My longstanding excuse is that I have UNUSED AMMUNITION for it :D And as it happens, I have unused ammunition for everything up to and including the 6.5 Mannlicher-Schoenauer. Truth be told, I bought that stuff just so I'd have a solid reason to buy a 6.5 M-S if I ever happen to find one.

I need another one of these so my son can use one...

If my son and daughter both had one then all three of us could use the same cartridges...

You know, If I had that one, maybe my wife would join us too?...Good for family togetherness :D :D

Years ago I bought a 1917 US Enfield. My wife ask, Why? My reply, Raging water Buffalo!! Never know when one of them suckers will pop up.
