Check Mate Industries is a long time government contracter for magazines.
Check Mate is considered a very high quality manufacturer of magazines.
Check Mate also sells retail, but you have to call. They have a web page, but don't have e-commerce set up.

1M291 is a code assigned by the government to identify the maker of the magazines. You have good ones.

Check-Mate Industries. Call'em up. Ask for Jackie. Tell her that you want the GI feed lips. The ones with the hybrid lips are better. 7-round. They're workin' on an 8-round magazine that looks like a winner...but I don't know if it's available just yet.

Their contract mags are not as well finished as WWII mags, but they are reliable.

Jim...The new ones are. The stainless GI magazines are beautiful and they operate as smooth as butter. The blued version is a deep, semi-matte black oxide. Springs are as good as Wolff's, and as near as I can determine...offer the same strength and longevity.

I have a couple of .45 ACP mags, still in the original wrappers that are marked...

Anyone know who made them??

Thanks.

The Checkmate Hybrids are great magazines. They run a little bit under $20 for 7 or more in stainless (about half the price of Wilson's new mags).

FWIW...Full GI-spec magazine feed lips sometimes need adjusting for the correct release point. I've run into it in about 10% of the unused magazines I've bought over the years...and when I got a few of Check-Mate's end run of their last contract, I found the same to be true.

The "Hybrid" style lips provide the later, more gradual release of the GI mag, with a timed release point in the correct place. It's a Colt design, and CMI makes the magazines to Colt's specs. A little more versatile in most guns..and they come pre-tweaked. The price is the same.
