I have retired and have sold most of my guns, M1 Garand, M1 Carbine, S&W 1917, couple of shotguns, Ruger single action revolvers, and am down to my 45s.
This 1911A1 I may not sell, but would like to know as much as possible about it including approximate value. I purchased it at a gun show near Knoxville, TN sometime in the mid to late 80s .
It is a Remington-Rand SN 2445750 which I believe is 1945 vintage.
The markings are;
Grips (brown plastic or bakelite) inside Left one is 22 with a 5 point star.
inside Right one is 25 with a 5 point star.

Top fwd of rear sight: P
Barrel Lug, Left side: P
Right side: HS
Frame, Left side: by mag release P
Behind trigger; Idiot scratch and FJA

Right side: U.S. PROPERTY M1911 U.S.ARMY
