I am considering purchasing a .45 auto. Either a Sig p220 0r a Kimber 1911. Any comments??
The P220 is available with a SAO trigger, in three different barrel lengths (3.9" "Carry," 4.4" standard and 5" "Match"). The standard one is the one I would get. The thumb safety (in the same location as a 1911's) is also ambidextrous and does not block the slide from moving when engaged. It is not as slender and flat as a 1911 and the trigger pivots instead of slides and is not quite as crisp or light, but is still perfectly decent and usable. I could also do without the grooves and saw teeth on the frame. I would expect it to be more reliable than the fussy modern renditions of 1911s, like my own SIG GSR.Originally posted by Black Majik:
The Kimber 1911 feels better to me than the P220, but I'm a 1911 guy at heart. I prefer the short 1911 SAO trigger compared to the DA/SA action of the SIG P220.
