I hope I don't get pistol whipped on Christmas morning.
Just kidding.
You'd have to know my wife. This gift is a bit of a gamble/experiment.
She goes shooting with me sometimes, she understands the deep-down, real roots of why Americans have firearms; but that's it, she's not really 'into' it (maybe she sees that as "MY" job, she can be a little old-fashioned sometimes while I tend to not be when it comes to traditional hubby/wife "roles")...and that's OK with me, but I would love for her to share my passion; even if the level of passion is much lower than mine.
It is my theory that if she has one that is HERS and not MINE, this may get her excited. This is based off of 10 years experience with the lady. I think this may work...I have
'threatened'
for several years to get her one but finances never really allowed it.
This year is the year, it is done and we shall see how she reacts on Christmas morn.
I also intend to pen a letter to go along with it expressing some of my thoughts regarding her safety and the safety of our children while she is out and about, repsonsibilities to protect them, etc. etc.
The pistol was clean as a whistle outside but DIRTY inside. I doubt it had ever been cleaned. I began to clean it before I wrapped it (how rude is it to gift a dirty gun?)and almost stopped because she can always tell I have been cleaning as she loves the smell of Hoppes.
I thought it might be a dead give-away since she knew I was shopping for her.....
So I kept it to a quick wipe-down and some light dabbing with the Hoppes and a Qtip.
Wish me luck ya'll...
If this gets me in the door of excitedville, the next step is to help her realize the need for the permit, even if she chooses not to use it often. Baby steps.
Worse case it I have another carry piece at my disposal.
