Sadlak?

All Sadlak products are top drawer. The aluminum mount is fine for the shooter who only does a few hundred rounds a year (me). If your shooting 300 a week, get the titanium mount.

If it's your SHTF/Defensive rifle, you should be shooting it more than a couple times a year. Take the money you would spend on a superflous piece of gear and spend it on some ammo.

i was taught how to shoot on a mini-14 which has almost the same controls as my M1A so its like riding a bike for me i can pick up a M1A and shoot perfectly with it, i also have other ways to practice my shooting. i would shoot my M1A more if i hand a half way decent range that wasn't 2 hours a way.

so is the alouminium mount any good??.

The aluminum Sadlak mount gets good reviews across the street, at another forum.

I would opt for the steel or titanium mount instead, though.

My dear wife bought a Sadlak steel mount for me, for Christmas.

I got a call from Sadlak a couple of days ago.

It's on it's way!!!!

Go steel with Leupold Mk IV rings. You will never regret it.

You still need to practice with the weapon you will be using. If nothing else, you need to learn to get back on target quickly, and that's only possible using the caliber of round you use in the real weapon. Other ways of practicing are great, but you still need as much trigger time as you can with the real deal.

I seriously would invest the $$$ in more range trips, but that's me. The M1A with irons is perfectly acceptable at any reasonable SHTF/defensive ranges. If you're mounting a red dot, I'd go scout-mount (eg, Ultimak). If you do need a magnified optic and don't like IER scopes, Sadlak in steel or titanium is what I would do.

At my present rate of consumption, I'm averaging probably 2k rounds of .308 per year. And I'm not shooting anywhere NEARLY enough as I should be. An extra few dollars for a better mount is money well spent, IMO. Consider it just one less battlepack of ammo.
