My next rifle is..........a BB gun?

BB guns rock, there silent, accurate up to about 50 yards with the right ammo (at least mine is, I am sure others have better or worse accuracy) and they can do a number on squirrels/chipmunks. Ps, my buds had an almost identical reaction since I am a m-16 + m-16 clone collector.

Just make sure you know your local laws on BB guns.

If I used mine as pest extermination on my property I could be arrested for discharging a firearm in city limits, even though I live in a relatively rural area.

Pellet guns are quite useful. They do not cause the collateral damage that a .22 suppressed can cause and are great varmint medicine. Just do not shoot dogs and cats with it as they will not kill them humanely (even with 1000+fps).

Personally, I would recommend that you keep the whole thing on the low down, regardless of the laws involved.

I've seen people freak out over this very thing and call in PETA.

It's not fun when that happens.

The best way to do it is without ANY of your neighbors knowing what is happening.

My father recently side lined his semi-auto Marlin .22lr from "bunny" and varmit duty in favor of a "super-dupper" pettet rifle, it's scoped and it even has a surefire mounted on it.

Tactical would imply there would be a vertical foregrip and a presure switch on the surefire, this is just a Varmit Killer!

gee, and i went out and got mr crossman from wally world for the squirrels, found out it takes too long to pump up if there are multiple squirrels crossong the wore...

i love bb/ pellet guns, and yes I do have a red ryder as well. I also have a nice pump rifle, that will get me about 900 fps with 5 pumps, and it is accurate, with a nice compensator up front. anything under 25 yards is a gonner.

I bought my RWS in 1980,,I had a small sporting good store down the road,i walked in seen all this dust on the gun,,And i said hey, whats that,,I knew what it was, they dnt, other then some kind of air rifle I said well.I dont like it,(I knew just what it was) he said well make me a offer,I did,and that went home with me,,And that modle is a 45,they dont make that anymore,I have killed big ground hogs with one shot,rabits dont move,squirles are no match either,One day my neighbor seen it,he asked,what is that,Itold him,,I said I can shoot right through both sides of a coffee can at 20 yards,NO WAY,,i said yes, way So i walked off 20 paces,i shot,we walk up,, his eyes lite up..OH sell me that gun ,,,i said nope,,you buy your own,,I shoot mine as offten as i can, have maybe a million pellets through it,no problems,ever,BUY A SCOPE for air rifles,,,NOT REG, gun scope,trust me,a reg scope will blow up inside,and i use the pointed RWS pellts,and i also put some good oil on the pellets,while they're in the tin,i feel it helps to keep the barrel from leading,I can shoot 1/8 moa at 25 yards,from a rest,,also keep your face away from the scope,it will open you up for sure,hell of a lot or recoil,,

I've had an RWS 45 for about 25 years. A good, high-quality precision air rifle will make you a better rifle shot as it makes practice a lot easier and much less expensive. Pyramid Air carries an excellent selection. You don't need to spend a lot of money on one, but you do get what you pay for. Mycars is correct; spring piston air rifles will shake apart a regular (even a premium) riflescope in just a very few shots due to the the two-way recoil of the piston impulse. I have a Bushnell air rifle scope that has worked wonderfully; invest in the rifle maker's rings and scope mount/recoil lugs, too. On some break-action rifles, the barrel droops a few degrees and you'll need the specific mount to allow for it. Aluminum rings will pull the threads out within a few shots, too. Steel is the only way to go.

I'm considering moving up to a .22 or .25 caliber air rifle one of these days, probably one with a sealed gas ram mechanism instead of a spring or fillable air reservoir.

On mounts,I tried to use that rail thats on top of the gun,that came from the fac,i thought reg 22 rings styles would work,NO way,,the rings would walk forward with every shot,U could stand on the screws,,it would still walk right off the mount,i had a gun smith install a wide base,one like you would use on a reg high power rifle,that worked,I took the gun out of the stock,when i first bought that gun and put the stock on the table saw,,i cut the forarm down a lot,it looks better then it did,i guess I sporterized it,,,,but i like that gun,its heavy fir sure,,I see they have now shot shells fir the 22 cal,i seen that on one of them out door shows,they were killing rabbits,I also seen where this guy realy killed a wild bore with his gamo air gun,thy have some new kind of pellet,And I worked with a guy who told me, he knew some guy who kills deer with one shot,In 22 cal,right n the eye,I know its not the kind of BB gun where u shot the dog in the ass fir getting you trash, thats for sure,,No toy

I had a RWS 46 that was more self-destructive than a Russian poet. It's buried in the back of my storage locker. It was not very accurate.

For varmits use those gamo gold pellets. They explode in varmits. I traded my 1000 fps pellet gun to my father inlaw for pest patrol. He shot a squirrel on his bird feeder. It went through the squirrel and the bird feeder too. The gold pellets seem to break up on impact. Personally I use my Reimgton 572 with aguila super colibri ammo. It is quieter than that pellet gun and I have 17 shots as fast as I can rack the slide.

There it has been said. RWS makes a solid air rifle. I use mine all the time when I am home. You will get much free (nearly so) shooting as well. Makes for good quiet practice that can be done almost anywhere. Gamo pellets work well but so do most flat soft nose pellets.

YES local laws on BB and Pellet guns can be kinda funny. In the actual city I live in just outside of Memphis TN. My fine and possible jail time is LESS if I shoot my 1911 in my back yard than if I shoot a BB or Pellet gun.

BUT I still use the pellet gun for the annoying lil animals

I've never seen a live armadillo. They exist? I thought they were born on the side of the road dead.

I have a Daisy "Red Ryder" for cheap practice in my basement. Don't have a squirrel problem, though . . .

I have though, set up some of those various small animal targets for use in my Basement [Red Ryder] Rifle Range.

I don't know what a "Red Ryder" would do to a squirrel, but they will kill a snake "dead right there" with a head shot.

I got an older Crossman 1377 air pistol for $20 last Summer at a garage sale and have been a very happy man shooting off my deck. I like it for the same reason I liked the activity when I was I was twelve--I like informal plinking at challenging targets. I also enjoy high power rifle shooting in a formal service rifle match setting (when I get the chance to); but I'd be lying to say that I get more fun out of that activity than when I hit the target nailed to my fence post with my pellet gun.

It's not a BB gun, it's an air rifle. Putting BBs in it is not advised.

YES u can kill squirrels with a red ryder,But i couldnt ever be that fast to hit him over the head,I have one,its a BB gun ,that has just powerfull enough to break a a hole in a paper bag,,

I killed many a squirrel, rabbit, and birds in my day with a Crosman 760. Even took a few small birds with the Red Ryder, much to my momma's dismay.
