this is an late 1950's Colt Officers Model Match 22LR in really nice condition. Sadly, no OEM grips (the Herretts currently installed don't fit my hand well). Will have to change them out a set of OEM walnut as well as a pair of Coco Bolo Hogues. The trigger and the hammer have been polished and jeweled, and the trigger pull is really nice, nice and smooth good anticipation, then just like breaking glass..

What did you have to give if you don't mind? I also recently bought an older Colt revolver with those grips. I believe they don't fit sometimes as they were made to order to fit someones hand. Herretts sells these grips currently around $150!

You are right about the Herretts. I may end up trying to sell em, but that'll be hard to do as they are custom. I can buy a nice set of Hogues for half that. The problem with these Herretts is the distance between my pinky and trigger finger knuckles is too much for this grip, thereby preventing me from holding comfortably/properly. I am abit of an impulse buyer at times, so, I paid right at 600. she's easily at 98%+. Bought it from a local dealer, could've saved maybe 100 or so if I'd shopped around.

Forget shopping around; you don't see Colt Officers Model Match .22s that often, especially in that nice of condition. I think you did just fine on the price. Once you get the right grips for it, I think you'll be all set for some great target shooting.

I have virtually an identical copy (although not with all the after-market slicking up), a Colt Officer's Model Target. The original grips were "Coltwood" plastic, and if you want to shoot the gun, go with more modern grips -- my originals are in the back of the safe and a set of rosewood Hogues are on the gun.

Thanks for the comments/compliments. I'll probably order a set of Hogues early in the week. Not sure, if I'll go light or dark wood (rosewood or kingwood versus tulipwood or coco bolo). I guess there are worse things to fret about..8^)

If you're a woodworker of sorts you might think of sanding those grips down to fit your hand, then refinishing them. I've done that with several sets, and a few have become favorites. Heck, they're not worth much to you as they are, so why not?

papajohn-

damn, that is is a hellava good idea! Like you said, I likely won't loose much... (I guess sometimes things are,or can be simpler than you think).

Yes, whats up with the jeweling? It seems to be popular on older revolver modifications. My Colt has it as well.

That is one fine lookin' revolver.. A set of dark rosewood grips would really make it sing.
